Overview

The Foreman position is responsible for the day to day operations of the facility including the following, but not limited to: communication with quality control; handling the aspects related to plant personnel and customers; scheduling necessary plant maintenance . This position will report directly to the Plant Manager .

Roles & Responsibilities


  • Directs and directly supervises activities of workers involved with paving, or construction of highways, roads, bridges, pipelines, or other highway/heavy construction projects.

  • Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.

  • Orders machinery, tools, and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.

  • Coordinates with asphalt plant operator, and transportation manager to ensure efficient flow of material to the job site.

  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to.

  • Prepares or receives from subordinates, reports of progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

  • May direct workers concerned with major maintenance or recondition projects for existing installations. Workers are usually designated according to type of projects, work, or construction activity directed.

  • Reports to a Superintendent or area manager.

  • Accurately reports time for workers in his or her crew using computerized system.

  • Coordinates with superintendent or area manager for personnel needs, and makes personnel decisions including approving time off, mentoring of employees, disciplinary action, etc. Completes and submits documentation.

  • Is responsible and accountable for the implementation of environmental, health, and safety regulations/policies (governmental and company).

  • Operation of a vehicle is normally required, and employee must meet the R.K. Hall Driver Qualification Standards.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

RK Hall, LLC conducts post-conditional offer background check, fitness for duty evaluation, and pre-employment drug testing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Graduate or GED; 5+ years of hot mix paving and/or base rehab projects, 5+ years of TXDOT project experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
