JOB SUMMARY

  • Process owner in equiax, directionally solidified, and single crystal foundry department in an investment casting facility.
  • Works closely with operations and engineering to identify and implement efficiencies and control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to reduction process variation in the investment casting process.
  • Interface with manufacturing and engineering personnel on daily basis.
  • Identify problems, generate alternatives, and implement solutions to problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach.
  • Take a leadership role occasionally in resolving problems in cross-functional team setting.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing areas to address process, techniques, and related issues to speed up/enhance production, efficiency, and safety.
  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.
  • Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
  • Enhance cost reduction, quality, and throughput.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interacts with Manufacturing Managers and Business Unit team, working to implement identified changes to manufacturing processes, techniques, fixtures/tools, and elimination of rework to allow for more efficient production of parts.
  • Assesses changes required in the production of parts and develops ways to sustain and continuously improve all implemented ideas.
  • Owner of all foundry department incoming materials.
  • Ability to cooperate, work effectively and professionally with all levels in the organization, both internal and external customers as well as outside vendors.
  • Establish and maintain SPC control charts for all key variables.
  • Investigate handling related scrap using root cause analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain work procedures for foundry operations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new process technologies that will extend manufacturing and product capabilities.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Ensure all processes are accurately defined and maintained.
  • Establish and maintain training regiments for manufacturing employees as needed.
  • Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, material science, or related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years or relevant work experience in manufacturing environment. Preference to Investment Casting Experience
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • High level of mechanical aptitude, lean manufacturing knowledge, systematic problem solving or root cause analysis experience.
    • Decision Making and Problem Solving: Able to take action in solving problems with exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues. Hands on data driven decision making.
    • Leadership and Teamwork: Able to complete projects by facilitating effective teamwork and empowering employees to understand, own, and control the process.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Working Environment: Shop Floor, Office.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting or standing long periods of time, may be required to lift Metal castings up to 75 lbs.; extended periods of time using a computer screen.
  • Travel Requirements: May be required to travel to other CPP sites, as needed.
  • Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working in.
  • Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
  • Steel toe shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant.
