Job Description Summary

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for a groundman/aggregate helper . Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Compliance with company safety standards and related paperwork.

  • Maintain aggregate plant grounds.

  • Assists operators and other crew members with tasks supporting aggregate production

  • Performs routine machine maintenance.

  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

  • Understands and applies safe use and operation of the equipment and communicates with other employees about safety related matters.

  • Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment.

  • Performs other related duties.

Required Skills


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or one to six months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Capacity to work well with customers, management, and fellow employees.

  • Mechanical competence

  • Capability to complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.

Language Skills


  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions

  • Ability to communicate effectively on radio/phone system


Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment that is required for this position: Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high visibility clothing for any work in the field, and hearing protection.
