Job Summary



Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Provides operational support for various education technology systems and infrastructure, including participating in the specification, acquisition and implementation of hardware and software systems.

  • Ensures maximum availability and performance of various technology hardware, software, and systems, monitors incident reporting queues, investigates and resolves equipment failures, diagnoses operational problems.

  • Develops and implements preventive maintenance procedures and participates in life cycle replacement on technology equipment.

  • Provides technical training and support to junior support staff, units and departments, maintains knowledge, and evaluates emerging technologies.

  • Performs inventory control and collaborates with outside vendors as appropriate.

General Responsibilities


  • Provides experienced consulting to faculty and staff and collaborates with team members to analyze multimedia system requirements, develop specifications, and interact with vendors on the acquisition and implementation of multimedia learning technology.

  • Facilitates and leads interviews, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future digital media and multimedia system requirements.

  • Designs, programs, and installs multimedia hardware and software; develops test plans and conducts system/integration testing of changes, enhancements, and new programs or functions to ensure they meet operational needs.

  • Analyzes, diagnoses and resolves undocumented complex problems to ensure maximum availability and systems performance.

  • Identifies and researches emerging trends and practices, tests and develops innovative hardware/software solutions to enhance the functionality and reliability of technology operations; recommends new procedures and corrective actions.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years multimedia/instructional systems support or related experience.

Working Conditions / Demands



This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate computers and other related technical equipment. The role is required to maintain and interact with computers and frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. The role requires working at height from ladders/lifts/scaffolding as well as close spaces.


May require travel to other university campuses and locations.
