Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Surveys, you will assist the Director in managing the land survey operations and oversee the survey work performed in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Responsibilities:



  • Assist with business development activities, proposal preparation, project management, and client relations.

  • Manage project resourcing, prioritization, and scheduling for large-scale public-sector survey projects.

  • Ensure projects fulfill the scope of services.

  • Monitor production and project schedules and report status to the Director of Survey and Mapping.

  • Manage assigned survey staff and coordinate the field activities of multiple survey crews.

  • Communicate effectively with production staff, including all project requirements from inception to completion.

  • Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

  • Deliver quality survey project data and ensure it meets state and local requirements.

  • Perform complex survey control computations, boundary/right of way resolution, and topographic mapping from conventionally surveyed and remote sensed data.

  • Write descriptions for property boundary survey use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.

  • Provide technical oversight of staff and ensure staff are adequately trained to carry out project assignments.

  • Collaborate with project team members, including other licensed surveyors, engineers, and technical and survey staff.

  • Promote an organized, timely, and safe work environment.


Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of relevant land survey experience, including field staff management.

  • Maryland Professional Land Surveyor licensure required, with qualifications and ability to obtain professional licensure in DE, VA, and DC within 180 days of hire.

  • In-depth knowledge of MD SHA surveying principles, regulations, techniques, and procedure

  • Expertise with all phases of land surveying, including boundaries, topography, platting, construction stakeout, etc.

  • Experience using MicroStation with MD SHA Standards, Carlson, and AutoCAD Civil3D




Requirements



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration

  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)

  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working

  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
