Description: As the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the activities of a large complex plant to ensure the building and equipment are maintained in proper working order. Your main objective is to minimize mechanical downtime and optimize product flow and production lines, ensuring maximum efficiency. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing maintenance systems associated with High Performing Manufacturing Organizations, including Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and TPM.
Core Responsibilities Maintenance Systems
Develop and implement maintenance systems related to High Performing Manufacturing Organizations, such as Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, etc.
Schedule maintenance work effectively to minimize plant downtime and increase plant efficiency.
Maintenance Staff and Safety
Provide guidance and support to the maintenance staff.
Promote plant safety performance by enforcing company and plant policies, procedures, and training in compliance with Federal and State agencies.
Offer technical expertise and support to all operating teams in troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
Ensure the smooth daily operation of the plant with minimal repetitive issues.
Oversee capital project development and post-approval management.
Manage and schedule project elements to minimize disruption to plant operations.
Deliver finished projects on time, on budget, and without safety, food safety, or environmental issues.
Key Performance Indicators
Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and report maintenance function performance (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).
In the absence of key personnel, the employee's supervisor or qualified designee will be responsible for completing or delegating all required tasks and responsibilities.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 8+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
Strong leadership skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering) and the ability to lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment.
Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order process, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc.
Proficiency in using exposure monitoring equipment and interpreting and communicating results.
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Effective communication skills in both written and oral formats.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, technical, and presentation skills.
Willingness to work long hours and weekends.
Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics and physical demands include:
Office and plant setting, with exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
Moderate to loud noise level in the production area.
Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Frequent standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and talking or hearing.
Supervisory Responsibilities As the Plant Engineer, you will provide leadership and guidance to employees in the Maintenance Department. You will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.
