Repair Technician II

Orlando, FL (Onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Repair Technician II who will you play a crucial role in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic equipment independently. You are responsible for monitoring and improving daily shop activities, assigning work plans, and contributing to process optimization. Your key responsibilities will span across equipment troubleshooting and repair, shop activities monitoring, process optimization, shop consumables management, and at times acting as a supervisor.

In this position, you will manage consumable inventories, provide guidance to Tech I technicians, and oversee daily operations. Your technical expertise will be crucial for diagnosing and repairing electronic equipment, ensuring adherence to cost standards and protocols. Acting as a liaison during chronic investigations, you'll ensure timely delivery and dependable product performance. Your responsibilities also include monitoring daily activities, creating work plans, and optimizing processes through best practices and lean concepts. Additionally, you'll manage shop consumables, maintaining a well-stocked inventory and overseeing proper disposal. Assuming a supervisory role during management absence, you'll ensure coordination and adherence to protocols. Overall, the position demands a blend of technical proficiency, organizational skills, and supervisory responsibilities.

Key Areas of Responsibility


  • Leverage extensive technical expertise to diagnose and repair electronic equipment, ensuring adherence to cost standards, customer specifications, and internal procedures. Provide expert guidance to technicians, enforce ISO procedures, and facilitate training sessions, acting as a liaison during Chronic investigations for on-time delivery and optimal product performance.

  • Actively monitor daily shop performance, promptly addressing issues and implementing corrective actions. Assign comprehensive daily and weekly work plans covering Customer Delivery, Production Plans, Training, and other company deliverables. Maintain accurate SIM boards for efficient tracking of equipment status and issues, utilizing the red bin area for daily problem identification and coordination with cross-functional teams. Assist in monitoring shop activities, following senior technicians' instructions to meet production and training requirements, and contribute to maintaining equipment status records.

  • Collaborate with the Operations team to implement best practices, lean concepts, and process improvements, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs in equipment repair. Proactively identify opportunities for documentation and repair procedure enhancements, standardizing approaches to improve quality. Work with the technical team to address material shortages and propose optimal Service Bulletin packages for increased service efficiency and cost reduction.

  • Efficiently manage shop consumables by monitoring and ordering replacement chemicals, ensuring proper disposal of expired chemicals, and maintaining a compliant inventory. Regularly review the Chemical Cabinet to uphold shelf-life, proper labeling, and safety storage protocols. Proactively monitor and order shop supplies to prevent shortages and maintain uninterrupted operations.

  • Assume acting supervisory responsibilities in the absence of management, overseeing proper coordination, task assignment, and adherence to protocols. Engage in regular meetings with Repair Line Managers, providing updates on work plans, progress, challenges, and departmental issues to facilitate problem-solving and root cause analysis. Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to address time-sensitive issues. Conduct regular team meetings to review KPI performance, weekly objectives, work blockages, and other escalation needs, fostering a collaborative and cohesive work environment.

  • In the role of Return to Service Inspector (RTS), ensure repaired equipment meets airworthiness and on-time performance requirements. Review work order packages for compliance with customer requests, quality standards, and regulatory requirements before authorizing repairs' release. Act as the point of contact for timely resolution of Customer paperwork rejections, aiming for same-day resolution, and review monthly rejection reports to define root causes and standardize the RTS process.

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED with minimum two (2) years of work experience in an electronics repair and/or maintenance.

  • Capable of working flexible shifts including, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible and willing to work any area in Repair or Production, as necessary. Regular attendance and punctuality is required.

  • Must speak, read and write English fluently.

  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the Thales culture and values. Must be well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a record that meets Thales’ insurance standards. Must pass a seven (7) year background check and drug test.
