Job Description:

Provides leadership and management of the Basic Science Administration. Develops policies, procedures, and goals. Oversees the budget process, resolves problems, manages personnel, communicates effectively with staff, and implements programs in order to maximize the effectiveness of assigned operations, administrative oversight, and support. Responsible for the management of group initiatives and special projects..


Duties:



  • Assists in the development and implementation of clinical or operational policies and procedures in compliance with the University, NIH, federal and state guidelines.

  • Develops strategic and operating plans and standardizes centralized clinical operations.

  • Recommends improvements to existing policies and procedures. 

  • Develops and implements strategic and business goals of the organization.

  • Manages projects for growth and revenue enhancement.

  • Plans, models, and analyzes growth opportunities.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of certain initiatives. 

  • Works with the subordinate directors and managers, as well as physicians, to ensure operations are compliant with approved budgets. 

  • Participates in the review of expenditures and makes recommendations for improvement.

  • May develop grant submissions and oversee funded programs.

  • Coordinates the development of various contracts for receiving and providing services. This includes assisting Chairman in the preparation and negotiation of departmental contracts; assisting the faculty in preparing budgets for research grants, contracts and requests; and alerting the Chairman and faculty to income alternatives and opportunities. 

  • Prepares budget and financial reports. 

  • Manages and participates in a variety of projects to ensure financial, quality, service, and operational goals are achieved.

  • Plans and develops internal and/or external partnerships to market and further the program, center, or college mission. 

  • May develop grant submissions and oversee funded programs.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements administrative, fiscal, and operational policies in compliance with the University, NIH, federal and state guidelines.

  • Maintains policy and procedure manuals and documents processes.

  • May represent program, center, or college at various internal and external meetings.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or closely related field AND:



  • 60 months experience in health care administration, business administration, organization management, or professional billing with demonstrated competence in the development and implementation of related programs and management of resources.

  • Experience with pre-award grant submission and post-award grant management

  • Demonstrated administrative leadership and expertise, promoting a team approach to strategic planning and the development of a full continuum specialty program.

  • Highly developed expertise in quantitative analysis to support definition and advancement for department's goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive, effective, and productive relationships.

  • Ability to act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to provide leadership to establish priorities and to develop and implement solutions.

  • A high orientation to detail with proven analytical and financial skills.

  • Environmental: Standard Office environment.


Supervision: 1-15 Basic Science Department staff
