The Video Editor is responsible for assembling recorded video footage, applying creative editing techniques, and creating finished, broadcast-worthy projects. The Video Editor has a strong creative eye and not only brings the vision of the Art Director, Copywriter, and/or Director to life, but enhances it. They are responsible for importing all video footage, creating numerous editorial drafts (rough cuts), presenting those drafts to the creative team, then refining the chosen draft into one rough cut to present to the Marketing stakeholders. They are then responsible for taking the approved rough cut through the finishing process: refining the edit, applying color-correction techniques, adding sound design, and creating a final mix that meets the marketing strategy and all creative brand, aesthetic, and quality expectations. The Video Editor should have expert knowledge of modern video editing techniques, be able to visualize directorial concepts, and work according to a strict time schedule. Ultimately, a top-notch video editor can perfectly translate a director’s idea into a beautifully crafted film or video piece, worthy of broadcasting.
