Job Description:

The Technical Solutions Specialist III is remote position responsible for working directly with customers to provide technical solutions to the customer’s friction management requirements.  This will include site visits both in the field and office, conducting trials, product demonstrations, creating technical specifications and making presentations.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop field trial planning end-to-end, including execution, documentation and reporting and shared with customers.

  • Generation of documentation includes PPTX, trial plans, analysis and reports that are shared with external and internal customers.

  • Assess Friction Management -  e., conditions on track, what equipment/consumables is being used, etc. - in the field and then make recommendations to customer.

  • Compile and collect data, perform analysis including fuel, corrugation, CoF, wheel and rail wear, L/V, noise, RCF, and braking.

  • Managing technical interface with customers as well as other internal/external stakeholders.

  • Create presentations and present to internal and external customers on what is occurring out on track, needs analysis for customers, conferences, etc.

  • Interface between the field and collaborate with engineering teams.

  • Conduct field testing on new products and communicate results and information.

  • Collect and compile data and generate and prepare cost benefit analysis studies.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Degree or 4-6 years’ experience in field applications of Friction Management products or in a related field required.

    • Railroads/Mining or Heavy Industry Field considered an asset.



  • Friction Management application & rail/wheel interaction understanding is a plus.

  • Railway experience especially with rail-wheel related issues preferred.

  • 2 years of experience in Project management & running of trials preferred.

  • Must have a valid passport.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Solid understanding of Friction Management & wheel/rail interaction.

  • Knowledge of Friction Management application equipment and consumables.

  • Public speaking, being able to present and communicate technical ideas and results internal & external customers.

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • Quick learner for new software specific to measurement equipment.

  • Travel is required 50% for this position with experience in managing flights, accommodation, and transportation.
