The Job Details are as follows:

We are currently seeking candidates for a Lead Systems Engineer for our Platform Engineering team. This role performs high level analysis and design of RedHat operating systems, within our AWS space and experience in building and designing Ansible automation. Within areas of specialization performs consultative role within OCLC – expected to provide leadership role for junior team members on technical basis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and solve problems in existing systems, removing manual repetitive efforts wherever possible


• Design, code and test OCLC systems in a timely manner.


• Removing technical debt with infrastructure as code automated processes


• Plans and participates in performance analysis and/or testing for supported platforms, wherever possible automating these steps to reduce manual effort


• Leads in developing and interpreting requirements.


• Participates in architectural reviews and plans.


• Assists in the implementation of all relevant ISO, FedRamp and GDPR standards within OCLC projects


• High degree of accountability to program deliverables, including quality, reliability, performance, and cost


• Mentor junior technical staff.  Serves as resource on issues of design and automation.


• Clear thinker and ability to work with information and problem definitions


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science related discipline required.


• 5+ years of System Administrator experience.


• 3+ years of designing Infrastructure as Code.


• Ability to follow industry standards whilst designing infrastructure as code.


• Having the ability to analyze and solve problems in existing systems.


• Must have the ability to concentrate and lead on technical projects.


• High degree of accountability to deliverables, including quality, reliability, performance, and cost.

Technical Focus

• Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate in a team environment.


• Minimum of 5 years’ of RedHat experience.


• Minimum of 3 years’ development experience with Ansible.


• Has minimum of 2 years of experience in AWS.


• In-depth knowledge of managing Linux virtual machines with VMware.


• Experience working cross-functionally with product teams, DevOps, and other engineering teams.


• Has successfully implemented multiple major areas of functionality.


• Participates as technical lead in sub-projects.


• Works with other areas in implementing significant architectural changes.
