Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston-Downtown is inviting applications for position that can be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications, to begin August 2024.  

We are seeking candidates with a commitment to teaching excellence in a diverse student community, research potential, possible industry experience, and willingness to actively participate in curriculum development and provide professional service to the department and the university.

Assets:


  • Ability to teach Mathematic Courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in a variety of formats including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and problem-based classes.

  • Supervises undergraduate and graduate students' projects.

  • Knowledge of statistical software packages, such as R, Python, and SQL.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Provide leadership in curriculum development and professional service.

  • Demonstrated commitment to service to the university, profession, and community.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

  • Industry experience is highly valuable.

Required:


  • Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, or Mathematics Education (with 18+ credit hours in graduate level Mathematics or Statistics Courses)

Preferred:


  • Teaching experience

  • K-12 Teaching experience

  • Experience in collaborating with local independent school districts and/or education departments at the University Level

  • Research Potential/experience
