Position Summary
The Career Advisor ensures the necessary supports and strategies are in place so that job seekers achieve optimal training and/or career success. This position ensures the coordination of assessments, assistance and direct placement referral services including, but not limited to: individualized career support, coaching and development of career goals and plans.

Essential Duties
(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
1. Evaluates and assesses job seeker skills, interests, aptitudes and barriers through assessments to determine goals, career /job focus.
2. Assesses eligibility for training opportunities that build work history and develop technical skill sets.
3. Assists in identifying and addressing barriers to employment by referring job seekers to support services provided by community-based partners (housing, substance abuse/mental health, etc.)
4. Coordinates with/for multi-disciplinary team, including internal and external partners to ensure that all supports are capitalized upon to meet job seekers' expectations and needs in alignment with their career goals and plan.
5. Cultivates, builds and maintains partnerships with key business partners, including Goodwill's business development team as well as community-based organizations to leverage resources and job placement opportunities for job seekers.
6. Represent Goodwill at internal/external networking and partnership meetings and events.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of Labor Market Information, employment trends and current job search strategies, including but not limited to online recruitment, applicant tracking systems, LinkedIn, O-Net and networking strategies.
8. Data management and reporting.
9. Participates in training, pilots and other special projects, committees and studies.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance
• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2 Years' experience in a related field required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
• Required to successfully pass both state and federal criminal background checks. Depending upon contract specifications, may also be required to successfully pass the child protective services background check and other background checks as necessary.
• Experience working with hard-to-serve populations is required.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office and Excel, required.

Information Privacy and Security
This associate may have access to Confidential Information (CI) and is required to be familiar with the Goodwill Privacy policy 10.23 related to the handling of CI, and follow all related procedures required to protect the privacy and security of CI.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions
• General Office Position - The associate is required to lift up to 10 pounds maximum.
• The associate works in a general office environment and is infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
• The associate is required to travel throughout the Goodwill service area.

• The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
