Job Summary: 


The Custodian will be responsible for janitorial services and will keep the facility’s appearance and cleanliness to a high standard for visitors and building occupants.


Job Responsibilities:




  • Respond to “janitorial emergencies” such as spills or other situations immediately.




  • Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure. painting, basic lighting and fixture replacements (no electrical).




  • Restock latrine facilities and verify latrine conditions by using a check list for each latrine that will be updated not less than two times per day during normal business hours (once in the AM and once in the afternoon as workload allows).




  • Correct deficiencies to the facility (i.e. supplies, cleanliness) with one hour of discovery.




  • Provide and display appropriate, neat, and well-kept signs to indicate Danger, Hazardous Floors, etc. as applicable. Such signs shall be displayed at all times in all areas where cleaning operations are in progress.  Signs shall be removed when no longer needed.




  • Building and grounds cleanliness; pest control; trash and debris collection (indoor/outdoor custodial services); grass, weed, and brush cutting; road, sidewalk, and entry way snow removal and salting.




  •  Indoor/outdoor surface debris collection of maintenance bays, parking areas, sidewalks, and roadways (street, bay, parking, and walkway sweeping functions).




  • Sweeping, mopping, lavatory cleaning (including walls, stalls, toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, light fixtures, windows and window screens – all surfaces, fixtures, appliances, receptacles, containers, dispensers), disinfection, and floor buffing / waxing.




  • Snow removal including but not limited to sanding, shoveling, snow plowing.




  • Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; Educates others on the value of diversity; Promotes a harassment-free environment; Builds a diverse workforce.



Minimum Qualifications:




  • High school diploma or GED




  •  New York State Driver’s License, CDL B w/Passenger Endorsement




  • Current DOT Medical Examiner Card




  • Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak fluent English.




  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills




  • Building must be operated and maintained at a superior level, creating an environment and atmosphere of excellence and graciousness.




  • Tasks accomplished by shall be done to preclude damage or disfigurement of furniture, equipment and building structures.




  •  Work to prioritize workload and delegate the appropriate work to meet the needs of the client/event.




  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.




  •  Must be a US Citizen.




  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.




Pay and Benefits:  




  • $27.61 per hour, plus Health & Welfare fringe dollars as defined under the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.




  •  The benefits program offered will be as defined under the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.




  • Leave benefits offered will be as defined under the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement
