East Cambridge Savings Bank’s Accounting Division is actively recruiting for a
Staff
Accountant.
Function:
Under
the general direction of the Assistant Controller perform a variety of duties
pertaining to the accounting function.
We
are looking for candidates with:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent through specialized
course work and training preferred.
1-3 years financial reporting or staff accountant experience
Knowledge of a Bank Accounting environment preferred
Proficiency in Excel and Word
Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills
Must be detail oriented
Self-directed critical thinker (ability to work
independently)
Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously while adhering
to deadlines
Excellent verbal communication skills
Essential
Job Functions:
Responsible for maintaining the accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids,
and accrued items sub records by:
reviewing all invoices for accuracy and proper
approval and inputting invoices in the AP system
preparing ACH payments and checks for signatures and
mailing payments
posting to the general ledger and preparing general
ledger reconciliations
reviewing sub records monthly for accuracy
Responsible for maintaining investment sub records by:
posting investment transactions to the general ledger
proving month end balances to general ledger,
investment advisor's records, and the safekeeping agent's records thus
ensuring that the Bank's sub records, investment advisor, and safekeeping
agent updated properly
identifying, researching, and resolving interest
collection discrepancies
Prove loans, deposits, and various other general accounts by:
researching and resolving reconciliation items
preparing general ledger reconciliations
Assist in the department's daily and monthly closing of the general
ledger on an accurate and timely basis by:
keeping supervisor informed of work status
participating in the department's back up plans by
performing duties as assigned by the supervisor
Prepare annual Forms 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC reporting to the state
and federal taxing authorities.
Maintain the financial records of the Charitable Foundation.
Assist departments with problem solving in accounting related
matters.
Assist with the preparation of various Board reports on a regular
basis and provide backup for regulatory reporting.
Assist in maintaining the records pertaining to the Bank’s
subsidiaries.

Assist with special projects as assigned.
Perform related accounting duties as required.
Assist department in fulfilling internal and external audit
requests.
