Job Description:

We are searching for a Bereavement Coordinator -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will develop, direct, coordinate, and administer high quality grief and bereavement care for patients and families facing life threatening medical conditions and end-of-life care. The Bereavement Coordinator will work collaboratively with members of the palliative care interdisciplinary team and other healthcare providers to ensure the delivery of compassionate, dignified, and exceptional patient care that encompasses the full spectrum of bereavement needs of patients and families faced with potentially life threatening or life altering illnesses.

Qualifications:


  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Nursing, Divinity, Counseling, or related health care or human services field is required.
  • Master's Degree in one of the above, preferred and can substitute for the required 2 years of experience.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications must be one of the following:

    • CCLS - Certified Child Life Specialist by the Association of Child Life Professionals OR
    • RN - by Licensed-Registered Nurses Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact OR
    • LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor, or LMSW-Licensed Master Social Worker, or LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission OR
    • PSYC-Psychology License by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists OR
    • Board Certified Chaplain issued by the Association of Professional Chaplains

Responsibilities:
• Professional knowledge and clinical ability to provide grief and bereavement education and support services to bereaved families, professionals and the community.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in grief theory, bereavement process and counseling principles.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment and problem-solving skills, leadership ability and a professional demeanor.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent professional listening and communication skills, time and resource management skills, excellent facilitation and coordination skills.
• Capable of relating to diverse developmental, religious, cultural and demographic backgrounds.
• Support our outpatient families from a psychosocial perspective.
• Provide interdisciplinary care along with our outpatient providers.
