Financial Counselor - Infusion at Vancouver Clinic

Job Description:

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including two doses of a 2-dose series or a single dose of a 1-dose series prior to start date. Fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days post series completion date.

This position will require flexibility to train full time to achieve competencies, then work as needed to cover for leaves of absence, vacations, etc.

In this role, you will obtain authorization for non-chemo infusions and counsel patients on insurance benefits and co-payments. Will create written financial outline of benefits and potential out of pocket costs. Work closely with Infusion Clinic staff to facilitate timely scheduling of treatments and maintenance of future appointments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensures all insurance and eligibility information is verified and an authorization obtained prior to scheduling infusions for all patients.

  • Verify on the first business day of each month all commercial, Medicaid insurance.

  • Performs insurance verification process on all third party payers. Obtains initial and subsequent preauthorization for services.

  • Ensures completeness of authorization request by confirming ICD-10, CPT, and HCPC codes are indicated for prescribed treatment, and sufficient medical information is provided to make a correct authorization determination. Communicates with providers to gather any required documentation.

  • Reviews new orders in EMR from providers. Obtains benefits/authorization and accurately enters authorization into system.

  • Schedule patients for Infusion once authorized.

  • Performs financial counseling process for patients.

  • Facilitates application for patient co-pay assistance programs as and assists with completion of forms.

  • Review of schedules are done on a daily basis to check for current authorization, updated as needed.

  • Interfaces regularly with account rep specialist in Patient Financial Services on insurance, billing and reimbursement.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to effectively communicate with compassion in a stressful and emotional environment.

  • Proven ability for processing accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including medical terminology.

  • Proficient keyboard skills.

  • Ability to work with moderate direction and complete tasks and assignments in atimely and accurate manner.

  • Ability to quickly adjust to changing projects and priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • One (1) year of medical terminology and/or ICD-10, CPT, HCPC coding experience strongly preferred.

  • Two-years of financial counseling experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

  • Experience with and knowledge of patient assistance programs, insurance plans, and criteria for infusion treatments preferred.

Pay Range:
$19.76 - $27.66

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
