Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant- Consolidations reports to the Snr Manager, Global Consolidations and Corporate Accounting. This is a results driven role that supports the CooperStandard's global consolidation process, ensuring timely and accurate consolidated financial results in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and regulations. The position will also support technical accounting, assist with financial analysis to enhance financial reporting, and support special projects, such as acquisitions and divestitures, as needed. This role requires a self-starter with a process improvement mindset who can communicate effectively with all levels and balance attention to detail with the "big picture".

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Perform the monthly close and consolidation procedures to ensure timely, accurate and efficient preparation of high-quality financial statements.

  • Prepare various month-end reports and analysis, coordinating with business units and regions as necessary.

  • Provide analysis and information related to the consolidated financial statements and certain "significant accounts" for both internal and external constituencies.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to the regions with respect to the proper application of US GAAP and adherence to corporate policies.

  • Review foreign currency translation adjustment accounts for accuracy.

  • Lead the processes, procedures, and controls related to consolidations.

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external parties, including senior management, auditors, advisors, and consultants.

  • Review and approve master data requests as they relate to the Global COA and functional reporting.

  • Support the monitoring of the global reconciliation process.

  • Perform special projects, as required.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting , and/or MBA/Master of Accounting of Finance.

  • 4-6 years professional experience, combination of public and industry experience preferred.

  • Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel knowledge preferred.

  • Strong Accounting background

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion Enterprise, Essbase or HFM

  • Experience with consolidation of financials results and financial reporting

  • Understanding of data systems and interfaces and how systems flow

  • Experience working with cross-functional areas and regions.
