Position Overview
As Senior Manager, Transmission New Markets, you will drive the identification and evaluation of new transmission development opportunities, influence positioning of the business for future growth and advancing Invenergy's growing portfolio of transmission projects, including Grain Belt Express, Clean Path NY, New Mexico North Path and others. In this role, you will contribute to the success of projects that together will unlock enough 100% domestic, clean electricity for 5 million+ US homes while supporting American jobs, local economies, and national security.
The ideal candidate will be very well rounded with the ability to evaluate and synthesize disparate economic, market, regulatory, technological, and other factors into clear, concise recommendations and actions.
About Invenergy Transmission
From America's High Plains to the Empire State, Invenergy's transmission projects will deliver cost competitive energy for consumers, jobs for workers, economic development and economic justice for communities, and millions of tons of CO2 reductions yearly. The current Invenergy Transmission projects represent over $40 billion of new clean energy infrastructure investment, including direct transmission investment building over 1300 miles of new HVDC transmission lines as well as investment for over 12 gigawatts of new-build wind and solar energy enabled by the projects.
Responsibilities:
Analyze current market conditions and future expectations to identify opportunities for new significant transmission project developments
Evaluate changing federal and state policy and regulatory frameworks in partnership with Government and Regulatory Affairs teams, and determine impacts on company positions, business plans and opportunities for new business models
Serve as subject matter expert in regulatory proceedings and policy advocate to further the goals of Invenergy Transmission
Monitor and evaluate competitor projects and positioning to determine impacts on Invenergy Transmission business
Identify new opportunities for transmission business growth
Cultivate and maintain key external stakeholder relationships
Represent Invenergy Transmission in discussions with regulators, trade groups, utilities, customers, and other stakeholders in a professional manner
Lead early-stage project evaluation and development
Coordinate internal team of subject matter experts across regulatory, permitting, engineering, financing, interconnections, and other areas
Draft policy documents, project proposals and advocacy for external and internal audiences
Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Policy or other relevant field
Five to ten years of experience in energy, utilities, state/federal regulatory, or corporate strategy/development
Experience with economic analysis of complex projects or businesses
Broad experience with engaging with multi-faceted subject matter experts and distilling into key messages
High degree of comfort with ambiguity; ability to effectively navigate uncertainty
Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive projects
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and drive solution of complex problems
Strong written and verbal communication with particular ability to succinctly communicate complex problems
Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
