The Expenditure Management Accountant role is an opportunity for a service minded individual to support our branch teams by ensuring timely, accurate and compliant filing and payment of our branch business licenses and personal property tax obligations. The team's goal is to increase the amount of time available for our branch teams to serve clients by eliminating this administrative burden. We have a small, close-knit team that works collaboratively to meet the variable volume and demands of our deadline driven work. We have built and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders such as Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Branch Real Estate, Tax, and Legal to deliver superior results.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Property tax filing and payments

  • Business license compliance functions and payments

  • Data management including large file manipulation and uploads

  • Credit card and accounts payable payment reconciliations

  • Branch team service escalations and follow up with jurisdictions on licensing and tax matters

  • Occasional administrative work such as mail review and document scanning


  • Candidate would need to commute 2 days a week to our Saint Louis office. 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred or 3+ years of equivalent experience

  • 1+ years of professional experience is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint)

  • General knowledge of accounting practices and principals 

  • Ability to identify and researches accounting business process and/or control issues that occur

  • Basic financial analysis skills 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties in verbal and written communication

  • Excellent organizational skills, strategic thinking, and process improvement

  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently

  • Ability to make routine and low risk decision independently in accordance with precedent and/or workflow procedure

  • Identify and proactively escalate complex and broad impact issues to the leadership level unless precedent and/or procedure already exist. 

  • Work closely with the team, with other departments within Finance, and with various levels of associates in other divisions of the Firm.

  • Co-ordinate with others to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. 

  • Ability to master, influence and teach others on area of responsibility

  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
