The Project Manager will join the Banking and Payment Personalization & Delivery team in North Kingstown, RI location. The position requires managing significantly large projects encompassing complex EMV Chip Card personalization, Specialized Data-processing and Fulfillment, and Information Technology elements. The Project Manager is expected to work independently with team members in disparate geographic locations and provide leadership throughout project life cycle as single point of contact between customer teams and Thales as well as between internal teams and other partners.

Key Responsibility


  • Manage and lead diverse group of IT, Technical and operational stakeholders as leader of assigned projects

  • Act as primary point of contact between customer and Thales internal teams for the context of Project life cycle

  • Identify resource requirements, obtain resource commitments and assign tasks and responsibilities for project deliverables encompassing IT, technical and fulfillment services aspects.

  • Manage project scope and revises as appropriate for change management

  • Monitor, manage and supervise project resources and the deliverables for project schedule, quality and cost compliance.

  • Assess and analyze customer business and technical requirements using formal techniques like requirements tracking matrix

  • Identify project risks and create risk mitigation plans.

  • Identify and resolve constraints and conflicts with project requirements, schedules, resources, operations or technology and report to senior management if cannot be resolved

  • Monitor and report project performance parameters and executive summaries to senior management and stakeholders in a regular and timely manner

  • Acquire sufficient knowledge of Thales products, services, solutions and technologies to skillfully recommend appropriate Thales solutions – during sales cycle as pre-sales consultant and during project life-cycle as project manager

  • Negotiate and propose most efficient technical design with Thales Technical Teams to address customer needs

  • Influence and convince customer technical stakeholders for acceptance of Thales’s Technical Solution and Product Offering.

  • Review and manage quality control of deliverables before delivery to the customers

  • Quickly learn and adapt to new cutting edge IT Technologies, Banking technical products, Specialized Data processing services and fulfillment technologies.

  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately in accordance with company policies

  • Minimize Thales exposure and risk on projects.

  • Assist appropriate internal teams in protecting Thales Group interests (contractual management, costs, amendments, risks etc.)

Required Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications or a related discipline plus 4 years of experience or in the alternative, 6 years of related work experience.

  • 3 years of experience as a Project Manager or 5 years as a major contributor in a projectized work environment

  • Intermediate level proficiency in usage of project management software e.g. Microsoft Project

  • Intermediate level proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects, prioritize work and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives 

  • Strong negotiating skills for defining project scope, deliverables, schedules and service level agreements

  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder expectations

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability

  • Travel: 10% domestic travel

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in Payment Cards (Credit/Debit) Personalization Services / Fulfillment / Distribution Center

  • Experience in payment technologies (including GSM/CDMA/NFC/TSM/OT) with background in cyber security, symmetric and asymmetric encryption algorithms, PKI Infrastructure, digital banking, tokenization

  • Prior EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) knowledge and experience

  • Experience in credit/debit payment systems or transaction processing systems

  • Experience of formal business and functional requirement gathering using tools like RTM(Requirement Tracking Matrix)

  • Experience of risk management including identification of project risks, creation and management of risk register, creation and usage FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis).

  • Current PMP Certification or equivalent

  • MBA or related Master’s Degree
