What We Are Looking For

The Senior Print Process Engineer will play a critical role in the development of print process for photopolymer materials on next generation Figure 4 and SLA platforms. The print process development team is part of the materials development group and plays a critical role in the integration of various system components, including hardware, software, and materials. This person will be embedded with 3D Systems hardware development teams in San Diego, CA and will serve as the representative of the print process group on these teams.

What You Will Do


  • Conduct daily hands-on research and development with photopolymer 3D printers; this is a primarily in-lab position and regular remote work is not available.
  • Work closely with hardware development teams to develop the print process on next generation photopolymer systems. This includes identifying and helping to resolve issues with hardware, software, and firmware in order to deliver an extraordinary product to our customers.
  • Identify main process parameters (inputs) and systemically study how they affect printer outputs (both quantitative and qualitative).
  • Develop print process parameters for previously launched materials on new hardware to support a robust catalog of materials available at the launch of a new platform.
  • Conduct formal DOE studies and statistical data analysis using tools such as JMP, Minitab, QuantumXL, etc.
  • Summarize data and create reports for both technical teams and senior/executive management.
  • Work safely and efficiently in a lab setting with minimal supervision.
  • Work across different print platforms as determined by the changing needs of the print process team.
What You Will Need

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a technical field required; Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience working with photopolymer or other additive manufacturing processes, demonstrating safe and effective laboratory skills.
  • Experience with vat SLA and/or projector SLA strongly preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of projection and/or laser optics is preferred.
  • Experience with DOE tools and statistical techniques is required.
  • Experience managing a flexible daily schedule based on business demands and priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and technical communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to both internal and external customer satisfaction
