Project Coordinator

Intertek is searching for an Project Coordinator to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Farmingdale, NY office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building and Construction!

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations.

What you'll do:


  • Assist the project facilitator team in preparing proposals for customers
  • Proactively take proposals to the open job phase by preparing job files and test procedures
  • Work with customers to prepare each project for testing (Procedures, drawings, performance criteria)
  • Schedule projects based on availability and customer needs
  • Assign technicians, manpower and equipment to meet the scheduled project timelines
  • Maintain current calibrations on all equipment so testing can occur as scheduled
  • Assist with safety, quality and training records
  • Work with management on CapEx Equipment and staffing needs
  • Perform testing and training
  • Build customer relationships
  • Write and review accurate and comprehensive testing reports
  • Keep equipment maintenance records
  • Assist in purchasing materials for each project (steel, wood, and expendable materials)
  • Ability to perform physical work relevant to areas of responsibility and as assigned

What it takes to be successful in this role:


  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience in residential/commercial construction preferred
  • 3+ years directly related experience with customer interaction
  • Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems OR the ability to learn and comprehend these standards
  • Experience writing proposals a plus
  • Detail oriented with strong proofreading skills such that work product is correct and final without the need to be reviewed by others.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including grammar and spelling.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Reading Blueprints and drawings
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to effectively support the department and contribute positively to team moral.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and/or flexible hours, as needed by the workload of the business.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
