Thales is currently looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Software Engineering team to help develop and deploy our next generation In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suite. This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, and technologically savvy. The candidate must be proficient in software development as well as operations.

This position requires the candidate to be responsible for the complete life cycle of new or modified software products including implementation, deployment, training, and support. The candidate will need to be able to work autonomously with minimal oversight as well as support interactions with other departments by interacting independently with product owners and stakeholders to solidify understanding of requirements and deliver products on-time. To be successful, the candidate will need to have solid experience within the Agile/Scrum software development methodology, DevOps/ DevSecOps practices, object-oriented programming concepts, and full software development life cycles.  The candidate should have sufficient technical skills to support design and architectural proposals and be able to work collaboratively with his/her team. This individual needs to be accountable for his/her commitment (both technically and behaviorally), be able to cooperate effectively, and be adaptive in working with different stakeholders.

Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Design and develop ground and cloud software applications, providing support in all aspects of the development lifecycle.


• Development of unit tests and additional automated testing tools and scripts.


• Develop Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for our platform and applications.


• Improve the CI/CD pipelines to ensure faster time to market and delivery and customer satisfaction through code and automation.


• Work as an integrated member of the software team to ensure collaboration and alignment with governance and platform standards.


• Lead and mentor developers to utilize best practices for integrating with the platform deployment pipeline.


• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure good communication and quality solutions that meet the company’s technical needs.


• Learn and apply new technologies quickly in order to deliver competitive and high-quality solutions for Thales IFEC.


• Apply best practices and standard operating procedures for the platform solutions.


• Operationally support environment and security issues with development and production.


• Create the documentation for the platform solutions for production and operation teams.


• Implement and maintain monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications in the CI/CD Pipeline.

Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience & Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related study


• Minimum 5+ years in web/mobile application development, networking, or systems software development


• Minimum 3+ years development with Java/Spring Boot, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular


• Minimum 3+ years developing front-end and back-end services


• Minimum 3+ years working with version control systems (Git)


• Minimum 3+ years working with Azure, AWS, Docker


• Minimum 2+ years working with virtualization and clustered orchestration (Kubernetes).


• Minimum 2+ years with continuous integration deployment tools such as GitLab or Jenkins


• Minimum 2+ years development with data stores such as SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, CosmosDB, etc.


• Minimum 2+ years utilizing agile tools such as Jira


• Good communicator to both internal and external customers


• Ability to motivate and deliver results


• Self-starter / Team leader / Mentor / Coach


• Is flexible and adaptable to different environments


• Is able to use situational leadership skills to work collaboratively and influence key stakeholders


• Takes decisions in uncertain and ambiguous contexts

Preferred Qualifications

• Have interest in working on front and back-end services as a Full Stack Engineer.


• Experienced working with cloud native development, modern infrastructure and tools.


• Experienced running software in DevOps environments.


• Experience in implementing solution monitoring (Datadog, etc.)


• Experience in security software and domain (SAST/DAST),


• Excellent problem-solving skills, and communication skills.


• Experienced in agile software development and a culture of continuous improvement.


• Good knowledge of public APIs for web (e.g. REST APIs and/or API Gateways)

The anticipated salary range for this role is $94,251.30 - $188,502.60 USD Annual*.
