WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:
As the Fabrication Manager you will lead a team of Supervisors and 9+ indirect reports.
Engage with key departments to build efficiencies and align on planning and longer term strategy
Review production schedules as part of planning for future and ongoing projects to make decisions concerning staffing requirements, work procedures, or assignments
Plans and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and to improve department efficiency and utilization.
Lead daily pre‐production meetings to review safety, quality and production issues with your teams
Identifies safety, quality and production related issues, assists with root cause analysis and validates agreed corrective actions.
Proactively works to eliminate waste and adds value to all processes.
Runs the Performance Management Process for team members, setting goals and quarterly appraisals
Develops and maintains a skilled workforce by hiring, training, and evaluating staff. Includes working with relevant parties to review skill requirements, identify needs, and evaluating training for overall effectiveness at all stages of employment.
Identifies and develops subordinate leadership within the department.
Prepares and maintains production reports.
THE EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING TO ADD TO THE TEAM:
5+ years of metal fabrication (steel is required, copper is a plus) experience and related equipment (brakes, cutters, lathes etc) and knowledge of welding.
Ability to read and interpret dimensional blueprints to plan and layout fabrication design dimensions.
Experience with planning for timing and throughput
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, team building, communication, problem-solving, and planning skills.
Advanced team leadership skills; motivate, partner with other departments etc
Lean knowledge and experience is a big plus
Familiarity with the development and implementation of work instructions.
Proven ability to work on own initiative, problem solve and present potential solutions.
A clear focus, understanding and desire to drive improvement across Safety, Quality and Production.
High School Education or GED is required
