As we transform our business and pursue our premiumization strategy, we seek an experienced Corporate Communications leader to oversee a central global team of internal and external communications professionals. This seasoned communications expert will serve as a thought partner to the Chief Communications Officer and support key c-suite leadership in the company to promote, protect and enhance Beam Suntory's corporate reputation through internal and external communications strategies and tactics, including corporate social media. This person will oversee day-to-day corporate media relations, working closely with colleagues across regions and business units - including PR colleagues at Suntory Holdings in Japan - to proactively mine for stories and pitch top tier and trade media and respond to incoming media inquiries. The Sr. Director will also support issues management and crisis communications, working across the business and brands as needed. This role will be responsible developing and executing internal communications strategies that drive employee engagement and understanding of our business, culture and values and for communications around the company's Proof Positive sustainability strategy.

Role Responsibilities


  • Lead the strategic development and oversee the implementation of high-impact internal and external communications strategies to further Beam Suntory's corporate reputation.

  • Develop news-worthy pitches and media angles and generate news and "buzz-worthy" content in traditional, digital and social media platforms, collaborating closely with the Suntory global PR team in Tokyo and other corporate communications colleagues.
  • Write and ensure consistency of messaging in press releases, correspondence, speeches, and presentations related to brands and Company issues working in collaboration with other business areas as needed.
  • Advise, support, train, and prepare c-suite leaders on internal and external communications messaging, strategies, and tactics that support business goals.
  • Develop communications strategies to prepare for and manage issues and crises affecting our brands and our company.
  • Create and manage measurement and evaluation processes and tools for communications programs.
  • Work with Brand PR colleagues to ensure brand stories and activities are communicated to employees internally.
  • Manage direct reports and build engagement and career pathing and development among the team.
  • Collaborate with the digital and social media teams to ensure an integrated approach in driving corporate visibility and reputation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and you are able to take complex concepts and turn them into digestible messages for key audiences.
  • You are a media hound and love talking to journalists and you have a proven track record of top-tier media placements.
  • You have experience working effectively with c-suite leadership to support communications programs that help meet business goals.
  • You are a highly collaborative leader with experience working in cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You are experienced managing communications in crisis situations and managing communications around sensitive issues affecting reputation.
  • You are resilient and have experience successfully navigating ambiguous situations.
  • You thrive in a rapid-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • You have built and managed high-performing teams.
  • You have demonstrated experience influencing and working in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of corporate communications experience, successfully developing and executing internal and external communications programs with proven results.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in business, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • You can travel a minimum of 20% of the time, including global travel.
  • New York City-based role with the flexibility to work remotely up to 40% of the time

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is a base salary of $200,000 - 215,000 along with an annual bonus, 401K match, profit sharing, and medical and wellness benefits. Salary range is commensurate with candidate's location, experience and skillset.
