Job Description:

SUMMARY:


Reporting directly to the Executive Director with a dotted line to University Director of Student Affairs, the Campus Director of Student Affairs (DSA) is responsible for the campus short and long range planning, development, and oversight of activities and goals for all student affairs campus activities and programs, policies/procedures, and services that strategically promote and support student engagement, student development, student success, and student life at the campus. Oversees and directs administrative support for student affairs activities such as but not limited to: orientation, retention, student appreciation, advising, satisfaction strategies, assessment, pinning ceremonies, student life, co-curricular involvement, service to students with disabilities, judicial affairs, appeals, grievances, academic co-curricular support services, and compliance related areas.  Provides assistance to students and other departments to ensure quality in all student affairs functions.  Interfaces with the Admissions, Finance and Academic faculty and associates and other applicable campus leadership to accomplish retention and outcome goals.  Conducts on-going student satisfaction review, makes recommendations on areas for improvement; and maintains current knowledge in the field of student affairs.  Coordinates and organizes student member organizations on campus.  Oversees and ensures campus compliance with all regulatory agencies, state and governing boards and accrediting bodies, including but not limited to the Jeanne Cleary Act, Title IX, ADA, WASC, BPPE, Programmatic Accreditations, and Title IV.


EDUCATION:


Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Administration, Business Management, Student Personnel, or related field required.


Master’s Degree or Higher in Education, Administration, Business Management, Student Personnel, or related field required.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:


Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in California required.


Must have approval by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) prior to assuming the role of Program Director.


Must possess a Certificate of Completion of a course in teaching methodology of at least 30 hours.


Current CPR Card.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse; one (1) year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination thereof, in a state approved registered nursing, vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five (5) years; or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five (5) years.


Typically requires advanced practical knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a single professional discipline or a broad understanding of multiple related disciplines. Experience leading a team, project, program, or function is typically required. Generally requires a Bachelor's degree.  Traditionally requires a minimum of 5 years of related work and educational experience.


A minimum of five to eight years’ experience in an academic setting, a minimum five years of which must have been in a management level position involving administrative, supervisory or director level duties concerned with student service administration/relations, or related management experience. 


Evidence of strong supervisory and managerial skills, including budgets, strategic planning, including assessment and evaluation skills.


Experience with development and implementation of career programs.


Experience with college or workforce planning.


Experience with MS Office. 


Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.


Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, ACICS, WASC, BPPE and other accreditation standards is preferred.
