Job Description:

The Reserve for Accelerated Disease Response’s (RADR) mission is to build organizational capacity for outbreak response. RADR consists of a multidisciplinary team that focuses on outbreak response which requires experienced, well-trained DIS who can flex to support emerging and urgent issues.


Under the direction and guidance of the Program Coordinator III – RADR, this position is a member of the RADR team’s core workforce and is responsible for training a significant workforce funded by Strengthening STD Prevention and Control for Health Departments (PCHD) and the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC3). This position also supports program activities and goals for RADR.


This is a temporary, grant-funded, full-time, benefited position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health.


Pay rate: $44.93-$49.33 per hour

ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES


The surveillance database trainer is responsible for developing content for databases and training Disease Investigation Specialists (DIS) in the Disease Prevention and Control Branch (DPC), including creating and sending agendas, organizing training logistics like zoom, creating and facilitating database training modules, and identifying new training needs. This role will implement best practices for training while staying up-to-date with evolving technical and scientific evidence relating to DIS and new database technologies. The Surveillance Database Trainer will liaise with external database partners like Salesforce, Accenture, and EPIC to organize trainings with expertise. This position will support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities by creating surveys and evaluating trainees and trainings, and will provide data cleaning and analysis support. The Surveillance Database Trainer will also document and archive training content and support the creation of a Learning Management System. Finally, the Surveillance Database Trainer will work to promote wellness, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with new training opportunities for DIS.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Stays up-to-date on latest database updates and workflows

  • Communicates with database partners and attends external meetings to understand workflows

  • Updates internal database usage with latest procedures

  • Understands database usage across disease areas and DPC and improves efficiencies

  • Designs and develops database training content for DIS, coordinates trainings, and organizes logistics

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of database trainings to identify areas for further support and improvement

  • Supports the development of a Learning Management system, keeps content up-to-date, and manages training products

  • Collaborates and problem solves with Training Team, including Training Manager – RADR, Training Leads – RADR,

  • Identify areas needed for follow up (client specific, systems/operational, quality and/or training opportunities) to the Training Coordinator - RADR

  • Participate in quality improvement conversations with supervisors.

  • Energize, inspire and keep the team focused on the purpose and importance of our work.

  • Ability to quickly learn and troubleshoot new platforms (CalCONNECT, Softphone system, Microsoft Teams, LMS, ISCHTR, Monarch etc)

  • Ability to multitask and work with a team that might have competing demands at the same time

  • Ability to answer questions about circumstances that Training Lead has not encountered before and sound judgment about when to push it up the chain

  • Ability to critically think through situations that might warrant extra attention, effort, etc. and triage those or do additional investigative work

  • Ability to provide quick answers to multiple people on multiple platforms in quick succession

  • Ability to provide a calm, grounding presence to a team

  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic

  • Experience supervising teams in complex environments preferred

  • Leverages databases to obtain data for grant reporting purposes


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS




  1. EducationPossession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. AND


  2. Experience:Two (2) years of professional level administrative or management experience with primary responsibility for overseeing, monitoring, and/or coordinating a program providing health and/or human services.


Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year. Possession of a Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Administration, Health & Human Services or closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.


Note: Clerical, recordkeeping, scheduling, case management, class instruction/training, health education and direct client service experience is not qualifying experience.


One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
