Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Responsible and in charge of all personnel assigned to the roadway or bridge project inspection.  Duties include efficiently and effectively managing man power and maintaining staff levels to the satisfaction of the client. Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.  Directs and assigns specific tasks to inspectors and assists in all phases of the construction project.  Responsible for the progress and final payments to the contractor throughout the construction project duration. 

General responsibilities included:


  • Manage complex highway projects to assure compliance with plans and specifications.

  • Coordinate personnel with client.

  • Work closely with the contractor to resolve any issues and keep the project moving.

  • Management of Inspection staff.

  • Oversee the pay outs to the contractor

  • Developing engineers estimate for additional work by contractor.

  • Assure material compliance with contract documents.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • For non-degreed personnel; eight (8) years of responsible and related engineering experience, two (2) years of which involved construction of major road or bridge structures.  Civil Engineering degree plus two (2) years of engineering experience in construction of major road or bridge structures.  A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one (1) year of engineering experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).

  • Direct construction engineering administration and inspection programs for conformance with client standards.

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Possess or able to obtain CTQP Final Estimates Level II, FDOT advanced MOT and attend the CTQP Quality Control Manager Course and pass the examination within in 6 months of hire date.

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Work Environment:


  • The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
