As an Oncology Area Director (OAD) West Region - Lung leader, you will provide inspirational leadership (1st line and 2nd line), and prioritize to drive commitment through tumor-level area execution.   • The tumor-focused business leader is accountable for and responsible for building and furthering the right business conduct in their teams. Ensure oversight, training, supervising are in place and functioning per expectations.

  • Accountable for ensuring that tumor and brand strategies are implemented as required by the business. Ensure that all Districts/Geos are performing at high levels and take steps to reduce variability in performance.

  • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring high-quality differentiating tumor geographic market plans exist for all markets in the area and that cross-functional execution is as appropriate.

  • Serves as a key member of the Area leadership team with the other Oncology Area Directors and Cross-Functional leaders. Represents commercial tumor perspective and plays a critical role in advising Area resourcing.

  • Identifies and shares key themes across Geos; facilitates standard process sharing.

  • Responsible for talent strategy and serves as a direct manager and mentor of a team of Oncology Business Managers (District Sales Managers) and support roles within their Area.

  • A leader is a role model for living AZ values who diligently and consistently uphold our ethical standards and compliance expectations.

Responsibilities:



Business & Account Planning & Engagement



  • Understands the tumor priorities of AZ, key accounts & the Area at large, partnering with Oncology Business Managers (OBM) and Field Business Analysts to synthesize insights across Geos and Areas.

  • Partners with the OBM team to assess and prioritize area-wide opportunities across the patient journey based on market insights

  • Understands the environment outside delivery of care (e.g. local advocacy groups, local gov't affairs, area events) and relevance to business priorities

  • Accountable for developing tumor-focused Area business plan, shaping strategic and execution direction for the Area based on knowledge of customer landscape and understanding of AZ tumor priorities

  • Incorporates key priorities identified in individual Geo plans and created in partnership with Area cross-functional partners; ensures Area business plans reflect Franchise priorities and expectations

  • As part of the business planning process, represents tumor-focused resource needs across Geos and Areas and provides input to cross-functional leaders to help advise their planning as appropriate

  • Identifies senior-level partners at key accounts across Area


Engagement Plans



  • Engages with senior-level C-suite and D-suite account customers (in partnership with Oncology Business Managers on their team and/or National Oncology Account Director (NOAD) in their area).

  • As appropriate seeks advisor-ship on strategic direction, appropriately engages on brand imperatives and, in partnership with the NOAD team, partners on key initiatives at the institutional level.

  • Maintains relationships with KOLs across Area, in concert with RMLs (Regional Marketing Leads) and OBMs, in furtherance of gaining appropriate insights about AZ products from trusted advisors.


Internal Interactions



  • Leads efforts within Area to recruit, hire and develop a diverse and inclusive Regional Oncology Business Manager Team

  • Accountable for the engagement of the full regional sales team and the establishment of a positive culture in line with AZ values, ethical standards, and compliance expectations.

  • Serves as a key member of the Area leadership team, together with other tumor-focused "OADs" and cross-functional leads.

  • Accountable for leading the tumor-focused cross-functional team at the Area level, facilitating alignment of priorities across internal partners.

  • Partners closely with brand team(s) to provide field insight and input into strategic and tactical plans.


Coaching



  • Develops, and partner with Oncology Business Managers in each Geo/Area to identify and address key priorities.

  • Provides regular mentorship to a team of Oncology Business Managers based on direct and indirect observation of customer engagement.

  • Supports cross-functional interaction, as well as a cross-alliance partnership where relevant.

  • Provides guidance and business context to the Field Business Analyst to shape strategic analyses.

  • Embraces, coaches, and role models an ethical, diverse, and inclusive mentality while recruiting, hiring, and developing a successful team with a culture of inclusion.


Requirements:




Essential



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • A valid driver's license and safe driving record

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience

  • Indirect or direct team leadership

  • Commercial oncology experience


Desirable



  • Validated understanding of customer segments and regional market dynamics within oncology

  • Strong proficiency in critical thinking, project management, communication/presentation, and arbitration/influencing skills

  • Specific experience in commercial hematologic-oncology preferred

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and experience in multiple commercial functional business areas is preferred (e.g. Sales and Sales Management, Sales Operations, (Brand Team/Marketing)

  • Proven leadership capabilities with people management experience

  • Strong financial management and intuition for business

  • Demonstrated clinical/scientific competence

  • Individuals must demonstrate collaboration, entrepreneurialism, flexibility, and tenacity
