An opportunity as Associate Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis is available within the US Finance & Analytics and ILI Finance teams supporting the Individual Life Insurance (“ILI”) business. The team is responsible for providing insights and analytics to help drive business strategy through development of financial forecasts, insightful financial analytics, managing and optimizing capital, and have accountability for both GAAP and statutory financial statements for the ILI business.

The individual in this role will be responsible for providing value-added, insightful, and actionable analytics to help inform Senior Management to drive strategic decision making. The role requires clear and concise messaging, strong analytical, communication, leadership, broad thinking, and collaboration skills. The role will have the opportunity to interact with senior management and requires effective partnership across various areas, such as ILI Finance teams, Actuarial, ALM, Tax, Treasury, COPM, Corporate Planning & Analysis, and USB Center Finance team. Role is based in Newark, NJ, but there is flexibility on your geographical location; there is an ability to work hybrid or fully remote.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Developing and reviewing financial analysis related to earnings, forecasts, or initiatives


  • Developing and reviewing forecasts and forecast narratives of business metrics and earnings under GAAP and Statutory accounting regimes


  • Understanding, analyzing, challenging, and explaining financial results and business drivers


  • Providing insightful analysis communicating key business drivers, including sales, underwriting results, investment results, expenses and taxes


  • Supporting business and corporate partners in strategic initiatives or strategic transactions


  • Explaining financial analysis and projections to internal stakeholders


  • Working with Investor Relations on quarterly earnings narrative


  • Understanding and reviewing modeling of product profitability and/or earnings, in support of strategic initiatives and pricing


  • Drive continuous automation and improvement of processes


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting


  • 3 - 4 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, financial reporting, expense management, or related experience


  • Advanced excel knowledge with proven ability to manipulate large data sets and create financial models


  • Proven ability to analyze data and the underlying drivers of financial results


  • Ability to work across teams and collaborate with others to drive execution


  • Ability to identify opportunities to better leverage existing and emerging technologies to complete tasks more efficiently and effectively


  • Leadership and managerial skills


  • Agile and organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with desire and ability to present to senior management while maintaining a strong executive presence


  • Ability to understand business fundamentals and business strategy


Preferred Skills (not required):


  • GAAP reporting and analysis experience in the insurance industry


  • Advanced degree and/or relevant certification (MBA, CPA, or CFA) is a plus


  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI


  • Coding skills (e.g. Python, R, Excel, SQL, VBA)

The salary range for this role is from $83,300.00 to $124,000.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
