What you will do:

In this role, you will strategically manage the selection of a defined list of 3rd party category suppliers used by Johnson Controls within North America.  Activities include strategy development, contract management, supplier relationships, pricing negotiations, develop cost saving projects, improve working capital and support our branch locations across North America.  Annual spend under management will be approximately $200M across all locations within North America.     



How you will do it

• Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to: cost savings, working capital, quality, supplier rationalization, and other agreed objectives
• Develop the category strategy for a specific list of categories in order to meet the requirements of our branch offices and overall business objectives.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams and act as escalation point to ensure continuity of supply to support the business unit requirements.
• Collaborate with branch locations to identify and bring forward new/critical products and services to expand the line card product of field offerings.
• Ensure compliance with all internal procurement and business operating procedures.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.  Provide thought leadership and act as a senior liaison / team lead for supply chain initiatives directly or indirectly impacting the branch locations.
• Track and report project based cost savings. Ensure validation and approval guidelines are met.
• Cultivate and promote diverse supplier relationships. Work with regional teams to report project based diverse sourcing opportunities.
• Align procurement metrics with the regional leadership team and communicate regularly with internal customers.

What we look for:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relatable field


  • 5-6 years of procurement experience


  • Indirect people management skills to influence dotted lines


  • Capability to interface with senior leadership


  • In depth understanding of purchasing tools and practices


  • Strong MS Office skills



  • Travel up to 10%

Preferred

*Procurement experience with a focus on construction, HVAC equipment and service, Fire or Security industry knowledge. 
*Experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge preferred.
