Global Technology’s Chief Data Office is looking for an experienced data scientist professional to lead the Human Resource (HR) Data Science vertical. Responsibilities will include applied research, development, and implementation of machine learning / AI solutions for multitude HR function areas, such as employee experience, talent acquisition, performance management, employee & capability development, and collaborating with HR Business Partners. This is an opportunity for a self-starter to lead a team that mines our ever-increasing multidimensional internal data. This role requires a skill set that combines data science, quantitative & qualitative research, management within Agile delivery model, storytelling with data and HR subject matter expertise with a passion for generating business impact that will transform the company. 

Key responsibilities:


  • Lead a team of data scientists working with various areas of HR functions and provide day-to-day data science solutions guidance and operational execution

  • Use data science to increase evidence-based decisions in a variety of HR functions

  • Collaborate in shaping/establishing talent, employee insights, workforce analytics strategy

  • Partner with HR COE leaders to scope, design, and execute business challenges that can be solved through analytics

  • Integrate and analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data sets from HR systems and other sources to help identify critical people issues, understand, and enhance our people processes, programs and policies, and drive improvements

  • Implement advanced statistical methods for prediction and optimization including a wide variety of machine learning technologies, including but not limited to, regression, decision trees/forests, boosted models, clustering, etc., for exploratory analysis, survival analysis, segmentation, prediction, forecasting, portfolio optimization, recommendation systems, and organizational network analysis. 

  • Follow enterprise guidance, best practices, and applicable control functions framework in handling sensitive data, privacy, confidentiality, etc., and lead the team in strict adherence to the requirements

  • Develop forecasting tools (e.g., probability of success in new roles, retention of critical talent, modeling/scaling optimal staffing levels)

  • Develop workforce planning and forecasts; identify key metrics to monitor performance of workforce plans in alignment with business and COE strategy

  • Utilize data visualization tools and techniques to translate analysis into insightful data narratives; prepare customized and standardized reporting

  • Share findings and explain advanced analyses in a way that makes sense to audiences less familiar with statistics and data analysis to tell the story and execute on recommendations 

  • Provide thought leadership and monitoring of tools, algorithms, and visualization techniques; help set standards and establish appropriate protocols, technology and tools to be used across the Employee Insights team (e.g., AI, predictive analytics, etc.)

  • Develop and manage stakeholder partnerships, influence data analytics strategies, and co-create roadmaps

  • Be comfortable working within a matrixed environment where your primary customers will be within the R and reporting structure will be within Global Technology’s Chief Data Office team 

Basic Qualifications: 


  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Psychology, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial, Data Science, Business, or other related degree. Bachelor’s degree with equivalent relevant work experience will be considered. 

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in workforce/people/HR analytics

  • 5+ years of experience applying multivariate statistical methods to relevant areas preferably within industry setting 


  • 5+ years of experience in Python, SQL, and core data science packages such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch/FastAI and variety of NLP algorithms 

  • Expert in using scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data

  • Strong knowledge of people data (e.g., headcount, turnover, recruiting); familiarity with Workday a plus

  • Experience with guiding and managing the acquisition and organization of data

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex statistical concepts to non-analytical stakeholders (Excel, Word and PowerPoint are a must) 

  • Experience advising/presenting to executive stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications: 


  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial, Data Science, Business, or other related degree. 

  • Prior academic or industry research experience in people analytics and related R functions 


  • Be technically proficient in working with Data Science systems and tools (e.g., AWS-Athena, AWS-S3, AWS-Sagemaker, JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jupyter, Python, SQL). 

  • Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Visier, Power BI)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to tell stories with data and explain technical subject-matter

  • Self-directed with strong project management skills preferably in Agile delivery model

  • Collaboration, relationship building, and influencing skills

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $163,600.00 to $221,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
