Job Description:

ERM is seeking a motivated Staff Environmental Engineer/Scientist, who is interested in participating on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services, to join our consulting firm in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers on EHS compliance, air quality, contaminated site management, and due diligence transaction projects.  This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for large industrial and global clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide assistance on stormwater compliance projects including stormwater sampling, data collection, data management, and developing compliance reports

  • Support additional sustainability, site investigation and remediation, permitting, and due diligence efforts for large land development projects

  • Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, hazardous material management, oil spill prevention and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater and wastewater programs. 

  • Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Support the development of EHS compliance and management system programs.

  • Provide general EHS compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance as needed.

  • Conduct environmental field work, including water, soil, sediment, and surface water sampling and ecological field studies.

  • Perform Phase I environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions.

  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.

  • Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and with high quality standards on project deliverables.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • BS in chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related degree. Masters degree preferred. Salary and benefits package commensurate to education and experience. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Recent graduate to 3 years of relevant environmental experience, professional internships, or a combination.

  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.

  • Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.

  • Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • HAZWOPER and EIT certifications a plus.

  • Up to 50% travel, locally and regionally, will be required to support client field work. Travel schedules may vary from month to month.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Local candidates preferred.
