RESPONSIBILITIES
Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people and facilities worldwide. In support of this mission, Security Information Specialists are integrated into the personnel, physical, and counterintelligence security disciplines to ensure highly sensitive information utilized in all security processes are protected and handled in accordance with all applicable laws and policies. Interfacing with NSA and other agencies, these specialists are the backbone of and the customer service representatives for the Security and Counterintelligence team. Security Information Specialists work in a myriad of offices. The responsibilities of a Security Information Specialist include, but are not limited to: - Track/manage highly sensitive security processes - Maintain highly sensitive security information, disclosed only to authorized recipients, in appropriate formats, and within constraints of relevant laws (e.g., the Privacy Act and FOIA). - Prepare accurate and complete reports that document processes, outcomes, and findings - Provide basic security analysis and risk recommendations to decision makers and customers - Create products based on analysis of security and/or counterintelligence data
SKILLS
The ideal candidate has a desire for continual learning with excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills as well as: - strong written and oral communication skills - able to work as an individual and in a team environment - well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments - focused on customer needs - knowledge of basic office tools and functions - experience using Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook) - able to lift 20 lbs.
PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Salary Offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary Range: $26,532 - $65,831 (Entry/Developmental) On-the-job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Work Schedule: Applicants should be aware that some of these jobs support 24/7 operations based on mission requirements. Monday through Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0700 and 1530 hours. (Flexible)
POSITION SUMMARY
Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people, and facilities worldwide. Security Information Specialists support the Security and Counterintelligence mission primarily through the Office of Personnel Security by tracking, managing and maintaining sensitive security information. Security Information Specialists provide an array of support, to include creating and maintaining security records, updating security systems of record, applying Intelligence Community and NSA/CSS policies for vetting security clearances or physical access, evaluating security clearance requests to ensure affiliates' actions are consistent with adjudicative criteria, and completing other administrative tasks associated with the processing of security clearances. Through this support the Security Information Specialist will learn the intricate details of each process which will enable career growth throughout Security and Counterintelligence and beyond.
