We are seeking a qualified Fleet Mechanic 2 for our Lufkin, TX operations. This role is responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on trucks and trailers in a safe and efficient manner to ensure minimal downtime and proper operations of equipment by performing the following duties:
Principal Responsibilities:
Performs scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles, i.e., brake repairs, oil changes, fluid changes, lubrications, and safety inspections as assigned.
Working knowledge in repair of vehicle drivelines, clutch replacements, electrical systems, and a/c systems.
Must have knowledge of trailer lighting, air systems, brakes, and tires.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shop environment.
CDL preferred for moving trucks between yards and test driving equipment.
Must be available for occasional service calls.
Participates and contributes to company safety program.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED and trade school training.
Experience: 5 years of vehicle maintenance experience in commercial setting preferred. Experience with OSHA repair facility safety requirements and personal protection equipment.
License/Certification: Preferred ASE certified: Truck Equipment Cert., Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostic Specialist Cert., Medium-Heavy Duty Truck Cert., Air brake Cert. according to FMCSA guidelines., CDL preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in hydraulics, electrical, pumps, valves, and tools.
Experience in welding.
Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments. Ability to read schematics and electrical drawings.
