Network Administrator at Excelsior Orthopaedics

Job Description:

Reports to Network Manager who is responsible to maintain and administer company networks and server infrastructure by proactively monitoring network performance and take appropriate corrective measures as needed. This role will work to coordinate efforts between assigned vendors and facilitate resolution of technical issues, stay current with new technological advancements and work closely with the Network Manager to build a roadmap for the growth and development of the company network.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Provide network administration support for corporate servers, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft IIS Server, Citrix Xenapp Server, and VMWare. This includes, but is not limited to, user account creation and management, server operating system patches, software installation, virus protection management, and compliance with current security practices

  • Ensure reliable performance and data integrity in local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranet

  • Work closely with Network Manager to evaluate business needs while setting up and maintaining computer networks, monitoring network and system performance, and collecting data to enhance security and reliability

  • Work closely with Network Manager to manage company network hardware (Cisco switches, routers / firewalls) and be able to modify configurations as needed. Must be able to perform troubleshooting steps in order to determine the source of any connectivity issues

  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with 3rd party service providers and follow up on service tickets with said providers. Will work with vendors to ensure functionality of existing network infrastructure as well as to prepare network for future needs

  • Must maintain and ensure continued continuity in network backup processes and ensure maximum systems availability and recovery capabilities

  • Update and maintain network operational documentation

  • Responsible for maintaining an acute awareness of technological advancements and best practices for the existing LAN/WAN infrastructure

  • Responsible for other project as assigned


  • Associates degree required; Bachelors preferred

  • 3+ years previous IT role with similar scope of responsibilities with experience handling:

  • Hardware and software configuration--configure software and hardware including servers, networks, and operating systems

  • Database design--data management and infrastructure support

  • Problem-solving--trouble-shoot networks, computers, and devices and apply creative and technical problem-solving skills to ultimately implement solutions

  • Communicationstrong written and verbal skills to work with both users and IT specialists

  • Time managementbalancing organization-wide concerns with individual user support
