Videographer/Photographer at Illinois Wesleyan University

Job Description:

The Photographer/Videographer produces compelling photography and video to promote Illinois Wesleyan University on its website publications and social media platforms, with an understanding of the power of visual storytelling to communicate effectively and creatively. Maintains an updated visual library of University people, events and campus environments to showcase the value of the Illinois Wesleyan experience. Works closely with the communications/marketing team to conceptualize and create videos, photos and multimedia content that furthers strategic communications goals and effectively engages diverse audiences, particularly prospective students and donors. This is a full time, on-campus position. Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and tuition assistance.

Responsibilities:


  • Photography: Capture compelling images in varied styles, including photojournalistic, studio, sports and artistic representations of the University people, events and campus




  • Editing: Edit video footage and create motion graphics to produce short videos; process and edit photos for timely use by various campus departments




  • Producing: Schedule and shoot engaging video footage and photography featuring students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and the University campus and activities; plan and conduct on-camera interviews to elicit authentic descriptions of the IWU experience that reflect our brand and strategic messages


    Creative development: In collaboration with the creative team, envision and develop visual promotion and marketing strategies with a priority of engaging prospective students; professional storyboarding; plan and conceptualize projects for optimum use of resources; guide the work of student photographers and videographer


    Project Management: Edit, curate an catalog archives of videos, musical recordings and transcripts of video and audio; maintain a searchable digital library of photographs; administer photo/video consent forms



Requirements:


  • Preference for a Bachelor's degree


    Minimum of three year's relevant experience




  • Must have knowledge of digital photography, videography, recording equipment, including drone usage. Must be skilled at shooting and editing video, as well as capturing compelling still images. Experience using studio strobes, lighting accessories and developing set layout.


    Comprehensive knowledge of photography/videography theories and practices; specifically knowledge of intellectual property, copyright laws and best industry practices
