Collects and organizes samples for testing, performs laboratory procedures, document and communicate findings.
Participates in and ensures compliance with the quality management, biosafety, and biosecurity programs.
Teach, train, and provide feedback to laboratory personnel.
Develop work schedules for section.
Research and evaluates new equipment, tests and supplies for laboratory use.
Performs periodic cost analyses and recommends fee adjustments.
Perform special projects and diagnostic research

Ordering and inventory are to be maintained as necessary for Level 1 testing protocols.
Collect list from each lab section of items needed to be ordered; place orders at least weekly for various vendors.
Receive shipments, reconcile the contents with orders, ensure pricing is correct.
Assist BVC Business Coordinator with invoices and reconciliation of invoices/shipments
Utilizes an inventory program to maintain items; updates and keeps in good order the inventory program in a manner advantageous to all users.
Explore additional vendors for items in short supply and discontinued items.
Explore new items available and discuss with pertinent users prior to ordering.
Provide support/assistance in Glassware to maintain section needs for sterile equipment necessary for testing; cleans and disinfects items necessary for testing.
Provide support/assistance to Media to maintain section needs to specific/special media for use in foreign animal testing as Level 1 laboratory.
Provide support/assistance in Receiving; interacts with animal owners and veterinary clinic employees to receive samples.
Collects case history.
Adhere strictly to Quality Management guidelines; this is the basis of BVC's service.

Reviews and evaluates processes as necessary.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree related to the area of work to be performed.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
One year of laboratory experience.
Pleasant, proactive personality with the ability to handle demanding situations, quickly adapt to address changing circumstances and personalities, and work as an individual or team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, supervisory, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
Problem solving ability to troubleshoot deficiencies, identify corrective action, evaluate new processes and materials/equipment, implement plans, and develop preventative action.
Alertness, initiative, memory for verbal and written directions and details, analytical ability.
Ability to plan and make decisions often without instruction or supervision.
Proficient computer skill, internet research, and the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs or equivalent and email.
Strong emphasis in the related area of work to be performed is preferred.
Experience operating, troubleshooting and using analytic equipment for CBC, hormone and organ function testing as well as microscope and centrifuge; ability to interpret results.
