Job Description:

University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) is seeking a Comprometid@s Project Coordinator for the College of Education at Sacramento State. Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the College of Education at Sacramento State has created the Comprometid@s (Committed to Promoting Latin@s in Teaching Careers) project. The overall goal of the Comprometid@s project is to increase the number of culturally and linguistically competent teachers by creating a clear and coordinated path to recruit, support, advance and prepare future Hispanic and bilingual teachers from high school, through Sacramento State’s undergraduate program, to completion of the post-baccalaureate teaching credential program. The project includes four strategies: (1) Ethnic Studies Professional Development for High School Teachers; (2) Future Teachers Pathways and Clubs in High Schools and Community Colleges; (3) Mentoring and Support for Sacramento State Undergraduates, including the EduCorps Celebration of Teaching Event; and (4) Expand the Teaching Credential Program for future Hispanic and Bilingual Authorization teachers.

Pay Rate: $17.45 - $26.28 per hour

Position Overview:
This position will provide general administrative support for the Comprometid@s project. The position will facilitate the daily operations of the administrative side of the project, assisting in the project’s activities, and assisting the Project Leadership in ensuring that goals of the project are being met. The Project Coordinator will also help facilitate campus events, the mentoring portion of the project, connections with K-12 schools and community colleges, and summer workshops within the community. The position reports directly to the Director of the Comprometid@s project and works closely with the co-Principal Investigators and the College of Education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs clerical functions including typing, word processing, taking and transcribing minutes, data entry, copying, collating, filing, and related tasks to facilitate the operation of the project, including working in a virtual environment, as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with Project Director and Co-Principal Investigators to develop procedures and timelines for the activities and events administered by the Comprometid@s project.
  • Schedules meetings with multiple on-campus and community partners.
  • Arranges logistics for events including room reservations, purchasing supplies, catering, and vendors. Events may be in-person or virtual, as needed.
  • Assists in ensuring timely submission of budget-related items including preparing check requests, verifying receipts, and assisting with travel related paperwork. May assist with monitoring and maintaining the program budget and related records.
  • Works with Account Analyst to maintain and update the project’s budget and related records.
  • Prepares materials for meetings and events, creates agendas for project meetings, attends meetings, takes notes, and distributes the notes following the meetings.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining multiple databases, including a database to track multiple components of the grant along with the people involved in each and a database that tracks students from undergraduate through peer mentoring and into post-baccalaureate teaching credential programs. 
  • Establishes and maintains office files and record keeping systems including confidential information and data.
  • Works with program leadership to prepare quarterly and annual reports on project activities.
    Works closely with peer mentors to help facilitate mentoring and connections with K-12 schools and community partners. 
  • Assists with updating the program’s social media and sharing content on websites. 
  • Occasional travel to community and school sites to help facilitate events.
  • Serves as a point of contact for questions regarding the project. May give presentations about the project to faculty leaders or students.
  • Other job-related duties, as determined by the Project Director, which will help facilitate the efficient operation of the project. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience performing clerical functions such as maintaining calendars, word processing, filing, copying, answering phones, and typing.
  • Demonstrated experience arranging logistics for events e.g., making room reservations, purchasing supplies, and ordering catered food.
  • Demonstrated capacity to implement required protocols and attend to details and accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience working in programs with culturally and linguistically diverse students, teachers, faculty, or community members.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the K-12 environment, university settings, community organizations, or agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in a diverse environment and with multiple groups (e.g., faculty, staff, and students from K-12 schools, the university, and community groups).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and coordinate many different tasks, determining the importance of each, re-prioritizing if necessary, setting deadlines, and completing projects accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience using computer applications including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally and in writing.
  • Must be fingerprinted and pass a background check. Must continue to meet the established standards. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Education-related or Social Sciences field, or equivalent. 
  • Experience working in a virtual environment using video conferencing software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams to arrange group meetings or events.
  • Experience preparing budget-related paperwork such as travel and check requests.
  • Experience preparing reports and summaries of activities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting presentations and speaking in front of groups, including in a virtual environment. 
  • Demonstrated communication skills in Spanish.
  • Experience updating and uploading images, text, and video on a variety of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
