Job Description:

The gorgeous Waldorf Astoria Resort in Maui, Grand Wailea, is looking for an Assistant Manager to join the Food and Beverage Team at Wailea Surfhaus!

Located on 40 acres of lush tropical gardens, this Forbes 4-Star property is consistently ranked among the world's best resorts with 780 rooms, 100,000 square feet of banquet space, and 7 food and beverage outlets. This includes 3 restaurants, 3 bars, a cafe, and in-room dining.

In this role, you will assist in overseeing the front-of-house team at Wailea Surhaus managing a team of 20-30 and reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager. Recently re-concepted, Wailea Surfhaus is the resort's open-air poolside restaurant serving snacks, lunch, and cocktails.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic leader with a drive to grow within luxury hospitality, a passion for delivering unforgettable experiences, and enjoys working in the outdoors. At least one (1) year of food and beverage leadership experience in a high-volume operation is required. Prior union management, resort, and luxury experience are a plus.

What will I be doing?

As Assistant Manager, you would be responsible for assisting with managing operations of Wailea Surfhaus to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while training staff and working within budgeted guidelines.


  • Oversee restaurant outlet operations

  • Maintain exceptional levels of customer service

  • Recruit, manage, train, and develop the team

  • Assist with annual and mid-year appraisals with team members under your responsibility

  • Manage guest queries in a timely and efficient manner

  • Work within budgeted guidelines

  • Assist in setting departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, budgets, and policies and procedures

  • Develop menus with other members of Food and Beverage team

  • Accountable for monthly stock takes

  • Incentivize team members to maximize sales and revenue

  • Deputize for the Food and Beverage manager in their absence

  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation

  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
