The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii is situated on 32 beachfront acres along the semi-tropical Kohala Coast, where white sand drifts into a blue-green lagoon off the Northwestern coast of Hawaii. It has a base camp located in the empire of the volcano and features 538 guestrooms and suites, a full-service spa, Spa Without Walls, and rejuvenating, resorting and renewing haven, The Healing Island. In addition, this resort offers a fitness center, 42,000 square feet of function space, ten tennis courts, and two offsite 18-hole golf courses. (15) Stewards

Fairmont Orchid seeks applicants for the temporary, full-time, seasonal position of Steward. This position will be available from October 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, at a rate of $20.44 per hour. This position is for 40 hours per week (8 ½ hour shifts with 30 min break). Shift days and times vary depending on events and occupancy. Rotating shift times include 5:00am to 1:00 pm, 8:00am to 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm to 12:30 am. Overtime is available as needed at a wage of 1.5x hourly wage, at a rate of $30.66. We will use the single work week as standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly.

The duties for the position are as follows: Clean dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment or utensils using dishwashers or by hand; maintain kitchen work areas, equipment or utensils in clean and orderly condition; place clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage areas; sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pick up areas; stock and transfer supplies to serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, storage and work areas; take out garbage; prepare and package individual place settings; assist in the plating and dishing out of food; take food and equipment from banquet storage spaces to various locations on property; clean kitchen cooking equipment and other equipment used in the stewarding department; assist with picking up dirty trays; set up banquet tables and assist with preparing meeting space as assigned; and, assist with cleanliness of hotel, picking up trash, sweeping and other cleaning duties as assigned. This position requires: No experience required.

(15) Room Attendants

Fairmont Orchid seeks applicants for the temporary, full-time, seasonal position of Room Attendant. This position will be available from October 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, at a rate of $20.35 per hour. This position is for 40 hours per week (8 ½ hour shifts with 30 min break). Shift days and times vary depending on events and occupancy. Rotating shift times include 4:00am to 12:00 pm, 6:00am to 2:00 pm, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, 12:00 pm to 8:00pm, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm. Overtime is available as needed at a wage of 1.5x hourly wage, at a rate of $30.52. We will use the single work week as standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly.

The duties for the position are as follows: Clean and service guest rooms, resort common areas and other assigned sections; remove and change bed linens, vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms, restock housekeeping carts with cleaning supplies and work with cleaning chemicals; polish silver accessories and metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings; sort, count and mark clean linens and store them in linen closets; and, remove debris from corridors; and, perform other sanitary and cleaning duties as needed.

(15) Cook IV's

Fairmont Orchid seeks applicants for the temporary, full-time, seasonal position of Cook IV. This position will be available from October 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, at a rate of $22.10 per hour. This position is for 40 hours per week (8 ½ hour shifts with 30 min break). Shift days and times vary depending on events and occupancy. Rotating shift times include 4:00am to 12:00 pm, 6:00am to 2:00 pm, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, 12:00 pm to 8:00pm, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm. Overtime is available as needed at a wage of 1.5x hourly wage, at a rate of $33.15. We will use the single work week as standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly.

The duties for the position are as follows: perform all methods of cookery, portion control and garnish for all dishes in accordance with the standards set by the executive chef; maintain high standards of quality food production to ensure guest satisfaction; inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work service or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices; prepare, cook and season food according to recipes; bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables, breads, desserts and other foods; ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters; and, ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items and rotating stock. This position requires one year of experience as a cook.

All applicants must pass a pre-employment background check prior to starting pursuant to the company's hiring policies. This includes seasonal and full-time annual positions and is applied to all applicants regardless of their national origin, race, gender or visa status. Fairmont Orchid uses background checks for applicants as a means to find the best possible employees for our resort. This is also true for many employers in the hospitality industry. Must be able to lift, pull or push between 30 to 50 pounds of equipment or trash. Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends, evenings, overnights and holidays. All employees of the Hotel in this position are required to become members of the Labor Union (ILWU Local 142). Although housing is not offered, we will assist workers in locating local housing. We also offer hotel/restaurant discounts and a subsidized monthly public bus pass. We will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies and equipment required to perform the job. Employer does not offer daily transportation. Employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law.
