Job Description:

Position Summary

Plans, directs, and coordinates scheduled and unscheduled work within the maintenance department. Ensures all tools, crafts, personnel, etc. is in place to accomplish this task.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to the following:

• Ensures minimum equipment downtime through implementation of parts, quick and accurate problem solving


• Effective utilization of downtime to do extensive repairs and inspections to prevent failures affecting production


• Reduce cost by managing type and amount of spare parts


• Recommend modifications and changes to improve equipment operation, reliability and personnel utilization.


• Direct and supervise various tasks within the maintenance department to ensure PM is being conducted and schedules are followed


• Correctly identify and take action to efficiently determine needs to repair/modify production equipment


• Responsible for directing all PM scheduling, repairs, general maintenance and toolroom activities


• Responsible for training subordinates and assessing training needs within department


• Annually trained to perform specific functions of Hazardous Waste management including; Handling, storage, labeling, spill response and as applicable, Hazardous Waste Manifest management


• Performs evaluations as necessary


• Other duties as assigned

Decision Making Authority

Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Must observe and practice all safety regulations, up to and including wearing of the necessary personal protective equipment when necessary. Safety shoes are required for this position.

Preferred Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Education and Job Experience Requirements

Prior experience working with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment. Prior management experience is required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and make effective decisions. Must be able to work overtime on short notice.

Must be able to stand continuously for extended periods of time.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to forklift traffic and moving production lines. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The climate within the manufacturing plant is not controlled.
