Sr Forecasting Manager at Exelixis, Inc.

Job Description:

The Senior Manager of Forecasting will be responsible for managing short-term and long-term revenue forecasting model updates, outputs, and other forecast related analyses. This role will be a crucial strategic thought partner to key internal stakeholders throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead the implementation of short-term and long-term forecast model updates (including updates to patient flow model) and/or new forecast approaches

  • Lead forecast related analytics (including quarterly variance analysis) to understand patient dynamics and inform key forecast assumptions

  • Partner with market planning team to understand key market dynamics and with sales ops to develop and implement IC goals

  • Create and maintain performance dashboards that track key KPIs and provide market insights to key stakeholders throughout commercial organization

  • Be proactive in improving efficiency of the forecasting process by automating input / output process

  • Build peer support and strong internal relationships with colleagues

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No supervisory responsibilities; manage vendors as appropriate

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline + nine years of related experience ; or

• Master's degree in related discipline + seven years of related experience ; or

• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

• Experience in prior forecasting or data analytics in biotech / pharmaceutical industry is required

• Experience with patient flow modelling techniques is highly desirable

• Experience with oncology and product launches is preferred

• Vendor management experience is a plus

• Experience creating dashboards is preferred

Knowledge/Skills:


  • Knowledge of different forecasting techniques (top-down forecast, trending etc.) and analytics related to biotech/pharma industry

  • Ability to frame critical business questions, identify information needs to answer those questions, and determine where to best search for information sources

  • Effective presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-evolving environment

  • Understanding of secondary data sources (specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, claims, Xponent) and using it to complete missing information

  • Proficiency with Office products (Excel, PPT) and SQL is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Environment: primarily working indoors, performing work or meeting with vendors

• Travel for conferences / organizational meetings as needed (less than ~3-5 times in 12 months)
