About The Site



The Nelson Energy Center is a 600 MW combined cycle power generation facility located in Rock Falls, Illinois.



Position Overview



The Lead O & M Technician provides the assigned Nelson team with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled expert to lead a shift crew in the operation of a 600MW combined cycle power station. The Lead O & M Technician is a qualified and experienced Control Room Operator with a demonstrated ability to operate the facility in all modes including emergencies and off-normal activities. The Lead O & M Technician possesses a desire to work with crewmembers on a daily basis to ensure assigned work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.



Responsibilities



  • The Lead O & M Technician reports to the Operations Manager, works a regularly scheduled rotating shift, and is subject to scheduled, and unscheduled overtime.

  • Will be a team player in the operation of the plant; in maintenance activities, and in technical support to achieve safe, cost effective operation and maintenance of the NEC.

  • Will develop and maintain an atmosphere of employee involvement, trust, and motivation through employee participation, empowerment, collaboration, and training.

  • Foster a team culture which is flexible and adaptable to change, striving for continuous improvement in the accomplishment of work.

  • Operate the facility during start-up, shutdown, normal and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures and instructions.

  • Coordinate and monitor team activities to maintain compliance with all administrative, operational, NERC, EH&S, pipeline, other regulatory requirements and procedures.

  • Report Team activities, progress, equipment problems, work requests or unusual conditions in the daily Shift Turnover.

  • Review daily reports, logs, and alarm summaries and ensure all information is accurate, and complete, with corrective action taken to resolve identified problems.

  • Provide daily operations coordination and planning for your Team to best utilize their skills and abilities.

  • Provide and coordinate daily maintenance support as conditions allow to accomplish the established maintenance goals of the station.

  • Assist daily with Work Order priority, backlog assessment, coordinate daily maintenance activities for your Team and providing maintenance support.

  • Coordinate Training for all team members in the safe and efficient operation of the plant.




Required Skills



  • CRO2 per the NEC Qualifications Program.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required.

  • Prior supervisory/management experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Education in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance or instrument and controls is a plus, but not required.

  • Above average computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Above average verbal and written communications skills.
