Synthesize, analyze, purify, and package reagent products by precisely following instructions given in the form of Chemistry Procedures, routings, written notes, samples, and verbal communication using laboratory equipment and/or instruments at bench scale (milligram to kilogram).
Professional Qualifications
Education
Minimum AAS or equivalent coursework from an approved academic institution with focus in chemistry or biology; or 2 years' laboratory experience in life sciences, molecular biology, or chemistry is required.
Experience
Knowledge of the theory and practice of organic chemistry and/or molecular biology.
Laboratory undergrad research or post-graduate experience preferred, but not required.
Micro-pipetting experience is desired, but not required.
General
Ability to meet the Physical Requirements of the position.
Ability to safely work in a laboratory environment.
Good reading (English) comprehension skills.
Good oral communication and listening skills to communicate effectively with Supervisor and coworkers.
Adequate comprehension to understand and perform mathematical operations associated with chemistry.
Must be dependable, cooperative, and have good attendance.
Position Responsibilities
Specific
Assists in the synthesis, analysis, purification and packaging of LI-COR reagent products and intermediates. Reads and follows Chemistry Procedures, Work Order instructions, or by verbal instructions.
Packaging reagent products by aliquoting, weighing, capping, labeling, bagging, boxing, heat sealing, and lyophilizing.
Clean laboratory glassware, ceramics, and utensils using organic solvents and soap/water methods
Performs tasks to produce various buffers and solutions, performing dilutions, adjusting pH, and packaging, using micropipettes, serological pipettes, graduated glassware, pH meters, centrifuge, and vacuum filtration.
Pull products for international orders and re-label to meet Custom requirements before final packaging for shipping.
Print product labels using multiple software and printer systems.
Collects and maintains documentation of production records and analytical data.
Weigh and package dye in a dry atmosphere using analytical balances, glove box, and high vacuum drying system.
General
Documents actions by completing appropriate Reagent Production and Quality documentation.
Maintains supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level and expiry. Anticipate needed supplies. Alert supervisor to place orders for supply replenishment.
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment by complying with all pertinent rules, procedures, regulations, and policies.
Maintains lab equipment in a good state of operation by following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and alerting the Reagent Production Supervisor and/or Equipment Monitor of problem equipment.
Performs routine and ad hoc parts inventory counts.
Assists in troubleshooting and resolving Quality issues related to Chemistry Procedures, parts and materials, and final products.
Must be dependable, cooperative, have good attendance, and represent LI-COR in a positive, professional manner.
