Schedule: Part Time days, 16 hours per week

Shift: Mon thru Thurs 8 to 5, Fri 8 to 1

 

The role you’ll contribute:

Assists surgical technologists by preparing operating rooms and appropriately arranging surgical equipment and supplies. This is a position for Surgical Technology Students prior to their graduation.  It is a temporary position that concludes on the date of their graduation from the surgical technology program.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Under direct and constant supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist or First Assistant the Surgical Technologist Assistant:


  • Ensures operating room is sterile
  • Field preparation and maintenance
  • Conducts instrument counts prior to surgical procedures
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients
  • Provides patients with supportive care during pre-operative phases
  • Collects and labels specimens obtained during surgical procedures
  • Maintains surgical instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instrument counts throughout procedures
  • Assists team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times in an efficient and organized manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

 

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:


  • Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws
  • Ability to understand and process instructions and directions
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Completion of at least one semester of clinical in an accredited school of surgical technology required
  • BLS certification required.
