Position Overview

The Aggregate Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily and long-term maintenance functions of the portable crushing plants as well as multiple site equipment and employees. The Maintenance Manager reports to the Operations Manager with dotted line reporting to the Production Manager. Manager must have good communication skills and the ability to prioritize and assign maintenance tasks. Must be able to communicate effectively with Management to keep them abreast of projects and concerns. Must be organized to assure tasks assigned are properly supplied and completed on schedule. Must have the ability to teach and mentor plant operators and less experience crew in what to look for and techniques to effectively complete projects. Ability to work with vendors to order parts and supplies as well as schedule service calls. This position will perform supervisory duties as well as assist with hands on maintenance tasks, general laborer and equipment operation tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Responsible to drive safety for all direct reports and maintenance projects.

  • Coordinates daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans, work orders etc.

  • Supervises and schedules work crews.

  • Organizes site goals, timelines, and budgets.

  • Orders required supplies and materials.

  • Assists with general laborer duties as needed, which may include shoveling, crusher maintenance, and other tasks as required.

  • Assists with heavy equipment operation, if trained, as needed at site location.

  • Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.

  • Directly supervise employees.

  • Train maintenance team in techniques and skills to perform job

  • Schedule and assign maintenance through prioritized maintenance schedule to maintain mechanical down time < 7%

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred and related aggregate mining equipment maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.

Work Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of related aggregate processing equipment maintenance experience is preferred. Experience leading a maintenance crew and preventative maintenance scheduling in heavy industry processing equipment.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.

  • Must be organized with the ability to coordinate parts, supplies and personnel on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions

  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

  • Successfully complete drug and physical abilities testing

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Standard Driver's License/ CDL preferred

  • MSHA and OSHA certified with excellent knowledge of safe work practices and regulations

  • Knowledge of plant processing equipment crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps and process systems

  • Crane certification

  • Ability to perform evaluation on the equipment to prioritize and assign maintenance tasks.

  • Knowledge of 480V 3 phase electrical power

  • Ability to perform evaluation on the equipment to prioritize and assign maintenance tasks.
