This role is a remote opportunity with travel to the home office in Deerfield, IL up to 3x a month

SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for managing the in-house training & development function for the Neurology Franchise. The incumbent manages a team which creates and delivers sales training curriculum, including New Hire and Advanced Training, training on strategic capabilities, and training for POAs and National Meetings to the field sales organization, ensuring brand alignment on training initiatives. They also coordinate with the VP of Sales to direct 50% of the work responsibility of the Neurology FTM in the sales training department. The incumbent is responsible for the coaching and professional development of Sales Training and Development Managers and ensuring consistency in training delivery. They collaborate with the Associate Director - Sales Training and Development for Psychiatry - to ensure a coordinated training effort across the department. Additional responsibilities include sales leader development, coordinating with the VP of Sales to ensure alignment of focus areas for development of our sales leaders and design and execution of the training to upskill them. This role will also collaborate with cross-functional partners in the implementation of sales, marketing, and commercial initiatives. There is accountability for budget management, overseeing vendors, and strategic execution of the training & development plan. This position ensures that all promotional activities are compliant, in accordance with operational guidelines, and aligns initiatives with Lundbeck core values and actions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership to direct report(s) to ensure brand and sales alignment and personal development (Develops Talent, Drives Engagement, Directs Work).

  • Conducts performance reviews and ongoing feedback to direct report(s) and provides appropriate resources to optimize team contributions to the organization (Develops Talent, Drives Results).

  • Leads selected training efforts and initiatives as identified by Sr. Director - Training, Development and Meetings including POA planning meetings, special training initiatives, etc. (Directs Work).

  • Responsible for the effective pull through of the 6 Disciplines of Learnings across all Lundbeck brands in the building of training initiatives (Drives Results, Customer Focus).

  • Creates and delivers sales training curriculum to the field sales organization focused on increasing disease state, product knowledge and/or selling skills, resulting in sales force effectiveness including New Hire Training, Advanced Training, and training for POAs and National Meetings. (Directs Work, Drives Results).

  • Leads sales leader development efforts in coordination with VP of Sales and aligns on focus areas for development

  • Builds sales leader development plan for the year focused on identified areas of need.

  • Communicates regularly with stakeholders across the organization to ensure mutual understanding of the team's deliverables and to ensure overall alignment with the business strategy (Collaborates).

  • Regularly assesses the sale force and management training needs by observing individual account manager performance/behaviors and collaborating with appropriate cross-functional area (Collaborates, Decision Quality, Collaborates, Situational Adaptability).

  • Participates and leads in strategic projects designed to fulfill the needs of the field Sales Force. These projects include continuous collaboration with all relevant departments: Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, IT, Sales Ops, HR, etc. and include but are not limited to new product launches, new marketing directives, new indication launches, new positioning directives, etc (Collaborates, Decision Quality, Drives Results).

  • Partners with Sr. Director - Training, Development and Meetings to plan initiatives, direction, and vision for the Training Department (Collaborates).

  • Coordinates and collaborates across the Brand teams and sales leadership to ensure cross functional alignment (Collaborates).

  • Analyzes and assesses training effectiveness to determine when revisions, enhancements, or new programs should occur and receives recommendation/input from team. Provides input to Training leadership (Collaborates, Customer Focus).

  • Proactively considers/identifies new strategies, tactics and vendors to raise the level of the team's thinking and performance, ultimately finding ways to do more with less (Drives Results, Situational Adaptability).

  • Reviews department reports, sales trainee evaluations, field coaching reports, and any other reports that Training Managers are required to complete, and evaluates the effectiveness of the feedback (Develops Talent).

  • For all initiatives, and when possible, develops evaluations and establishes other ways to measure training impact, effectiveness, report results and adjust plans accordingly (Situational Adaptability).

  • Acts as main point of contact for day to day operations related to each Brand in development of new training initiatives or supporting changes in direction (Collaborates, Customer Focus).

  • Ensures that all expired training materials are retired, or placed back in the approval process.

  • Participates and contributes to the interviewing and hiring decisions for the training team (Develops Talent).

  • Proactively manages portion of the department training budget (Drives Results)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:


  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree

  • 7+ years in the pharmaceutical/healthcare related or teaching/training experience

  • 2+ years of leading and influencing others, to include experience managing direct reports, coaching and developing individuals and a team

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions that support business needs and align with company values

  • Excellent planning and organization skills

  • Ability to develop/facilitate training classes/workshops

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills along with an ability to influence both within and outside the organization

  • Ability to work with multiple internal cross-functional teams and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously


  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently, in a team and as a leader of a team

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Power Point, Word, Excel)

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:


  • Master's/MBA

  • CNS experience

  • Project management and specialty or account management experience is a plus

  • Experience in Sales Training preferred

  • Budget Management experience

  • Vendor Management experience

TRAVEL:


  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 30% domestically. International travel may be required.

The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of New York, Colorado and Connecticut, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $160,000 - $195,000 and eligibility for a 20% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company's long-term incentive plan.
