Job Description:

We are looking for Seasonal (May - August) General Laborers to perform tasks involving physical labor at our construction sites. Laborers should have basic knowledge of common hand, and power tools including a variety of measuring devices. This position may involve cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, and cleaning up rubble, debris and other waste materials.

Responsibilities:
Assist painters or other tradespeople on-siteHandle and transport materials (e.g. asphalt) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as asphalt.Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools.Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.Use computers or other input devices to clock in & out and find resources.Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes.Perform site activities required of green certified construction practices, such as implementing waste management procedures, identifying materials for reuse, or installing erosion or sedimentation control mechanisms.Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.Install sewer, water, or storm drainpipes, using pipe-laying machinery or laser guidance equipment.Operate or maintain air monitoring or other sampling devices in confined or hazardous environments.Sculpt features out of any material providedAssemble wood or metal features with power and hand toolsLay and secure artificial or live grassPainting and CompactingBroom, rake, shovel or hose down dirt, clear debrisClean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material

Detailed Work Activities:
Apply paint to surfaces.Apply sealants or other protective coatings.Assemble temporary equipment or structures.Assist skilled construction or extraction personnel.Break up rock, asphalt, or concrete.Clean equipment or facilities.Clean surfaces in preparation for work activities.Clean work sites.Compact materials to create level bases.Dig holes or trenches.Direct vehicle traffic.Dismantle equipment or temporary structures.Install green structural components, equipment or systems.Install masonry materials.Install piping.Load or unload materials used in construction or extraction.Maintain construction tools or equipment.Mark reference points on construction materials.Measure work site dimensions.Mix substances or compounds needed for work activities.Move construction or extraction materials to locations where they are needed.Operate heavy-duty construction or installation equipment.Operate pumps or compressors.Position construction forms.Position structural components.Pour materials into or on designated areas.Prepare hazardous waste for processing or disposal.Protect structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage.Remove worn, damaged or outdated materials from work areas.Review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements.Signal equipment operators to indicate proper equipment positioning.Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools.Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures.

Qualifications:
A valid U.S. Drivers licenseAble to work in all climates and altitudesAbility to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 100 pounds etc.)Able to work in a dusty environmentMust be able to work with hot asphaltGood hand-eye coordinationFamiliarity with power tools and machinery is a plusMust be able to use a tape measure, and other measuring equipmentMust have a positive attitude while on siteMust be able to keep a tidy work siteCommunication and teamwork skillsCommitment to safety rulesApprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessaryBe able to travel away from home 2 weeks - 3 months at a time with breaks in between.Must have a working cell phoneMust have work boots
